Laminate flooring project January, 2020 I do not recommend Warren and Maryville Floors and More. The reasons are listed as follows: When selling the product, Warren stated that his “crew” was skilled in laying floors and would have the job done in one to two days (Note, after the third day I confronted Warren about his time estimate. He simply mocked me and said he NEVER said that). Warren arrived with three “day laborers” that had little to no skill in laying floors. The flooring was cut short against walls in at least four places (In one case five successive boards were cut short). The result is that the trim molding does not cover the cut edge of the laminate in each of those locations. The flooring that butts up to doors and the fireplace was cut so that boards don’t match. In two cases there is almost an inch difference. Warren tried to hide it with caulk but he used a very mismatched color which made it even more obvious. Note, I have since scrapped out the caulk and replaced it with caulk that better matches. It doesn’t fix the problem but it isn’t as noticeable. I had to buy a repair kit and repair over 20 chips, scraps, and scratches. The workers either over-hammered the edge of the laminate or the laminate isn’t very high quality. Either way, there are many chips and scraps that I have had to repair. Please note, the repair doesn’t eliminate the chip but helps to make it not as obvious. In two of three closets there was scrap laminate used that isn’t “locked” to the next piece. I haven’t figured out how to fix that problem. In another place the scrap is a half inch short of the trim molding. Maybe I’ll do what they did-place stuff over it to hide it. Before contracting him, Warren priced the project that included replacing all the base molding with 1x4 trim. Warren miscalculated or intentionally under calculated the amount of 1x4 trim but did not purchase more. Instead he used trim that I owned and pieced it together. The result is trim with prior nail holes and rough edges throughout my home. There is one place where the trim was about an inch short so he or his crew just stuck a piece of scrap into the spot. Warren told me if he used any of my trim that he would “credit” me the amount. He did not. One of the unskilled workers ran caulk all around the trim. He either didn’t wipe away the excess or didn’t do it very well. The result is blobs of caulk in different spots as well as caulk up to an inch up the painted walls. I am in the process of removing all the caulk and doing it correctly. That is taking hours to correct. Lack of follow-up. After paying him the balance of the contract amount, Warren said he would return to finish any leftover items. Well, three doors don’t close because of the trim molding covering the transition to tile flooring. One closet bi-fold door is just propped up in the opening because it is too long to fit in the bracket and needs to be cut. White caulk was left at one door because Warren said that the colored caulk was taken with a vehicle that already left. Warren said he’d be back the following Wednesday to finish left-over items. It has been three weeks and I haven’t and don’t expect to hear from him. I haven’t called. I really don’t want him back in my home. The overall experience was traumatic. I felt uncomfortable leaving the house. Warren would drop off his crew and leave for hours. I felt I was a babysitter protecting my home from potential thieves. His crew would work about 15-20 minutes each hour and then stand in the garage or driveway and smoke. When I told him about it he simply said that he has dealt with that for 20 years and it is just the way it is. In the end the project took four days with the last day ending around 8 pm. I blame myself for not doing a better job of vetting Maryville Floors and More. I’m hopeful someone will read this review and I can save them the heartache I am dealing with.
