I wish it was positive bc it started out very well. Our kitchen renovation was a big project for my wife and I, both budget wise and our anticipation. I hired ME and was satisfied with the basic carpentry work. Good crew, polite, clean and on time most days. Then....little things appeared. Bad cuts during the trim work, a worrisome conversation about adding a door knob to an antique door but the biggest thing was when Milton's crew put "air condition duct " as our heater exhaust pipe. Not code, and dangerous. I was painting trim one Autumn evening when I noticed moisture dripping thru the ceiling. The air condition duct/heating exhaust tube was sweating from a joint, water logged and the tubing had collapsed. It became a carbon monoxide death trap. I brought the exhaust problem to Milton's attention which he shrugged off, saying they use air condition duct all the time instead of the NC code required metal exhaust tubes. I released him of his duties bc of a series of events, delays in showing up, not satisfactory carpentry and his nonchalant attitude of possible CO2 poisoning. I had Morris-Jenkins fix the problem to the tune of $1k. Milton refused to pay the $1k, so small claims court was our next step. The court experience took two sessions. The 1st court day Milton claimed he needed an interpreter which he brought from another county besides Mecklenburg so the session was rescheduled. The second session was when I won a judgment. The judge split the decision. I won $500. Let's see, the court judgment was a few years ago and Milton has yet to reimburse me. I know he is still in business and is a pastor who Preaches on Sunday so I have no clue why Milton has yet to pay the small claim court judgment. He's a good guy, but I saw problems coming and cut ties. I am dismayed why things went downhill, why we had to go to court instead of settling the MJ $1k bill face to face and why I have yet to get my money back. All is true, not exaggerated... I have pictures, a MJ letter to the judge but no response from ME.
