With over 70 years of combined experience Richard Plain, Jr. & Edward Plain make up the full service Survey Company - Richard Plain Land Surveyors, providing land surveys from mapping & staking to elevation certificates and more, all through Fairfield, New Haven and surrounding counties. Established by our Father Richard and Uncle Edward Shaughnessy in 1978, The name "Richard Plain" remains a staple in Fairfield County. As a young boy, our Father Richard was taken under the wing of my Uncle Ed and decided that Land Surveying was his passion as well. They both worked together for over 50 years. Our Father has since retired and our Uncle passed away, but we proudly continue our family legacy. When you use our company, you are actually working directly with Richard & Edward! and we are honored to be the people on your project. We offer different types of surveys to satisfy different needs and we are here to direct you towards the type of survey that fits your situation (no more, no less) . With Richard W. Absolutely outstanding experience with Richard. He is the best surveyor you will find anywhere. Between his knowledge, experience and logic, and customer service skills, he made the process for my new home a breeze. Highly recommended to everyone.   | THE ELEVATION CERTIFICATE | May 2015 | The aim of the project was to create an updated Elevation Certificate for Jimmie. He was selling this property, and before he puts it on the market he wanted to get a new certificate that reflected the FEMA Flood Zone Changes of July of 2013. This updated document will arm any perspective buyer with exactly what they need to get an accurate quote on Flood Insurance, before they put in a Bid on this amazing home on the water's edge. Jimmie, who owns The famous "Jimmie's Restaurant" in West Haven, CT since 1925, is quite an Entertaining fellow! But we are still waiting for some clams one day for lunch (maybe he is reading this!). | Milford, CT | |
  | RAISING THE ROOF, OR IN THIS CASE, THE WHOLE HOUSE! | Oct 2014 | The aim of this project was to create a "Zoning Location Survey" for proposal. Bill's intentions were to lift his house up on concrete pillars, and also acquire a new elevation certificate for his insurance company. His finished floor is now about 5 feet above his Base Flood Elevation of 15!. FEMA updated their maps in the middle of this project, so it was advanageous that his house was raised as high as it was. Bill went from being in Flood Zone AE(10) to VE(15) by the time he was complete 2 years later.. | Milford, CT | |
  | SOUTHPORT EXPANSION | Aug 2014 | The aim of this project was to create a "Zoning Location Survey" for some major renovation to an old house from 1834. Brian St. Pierre, a local Contractor that also hires us frequently, was in charge of this project. It was very tight as you can see, and we enjoy knowing that we give both Brian and the Homeowner the confidence in us, to know they will get this done for them and get it through the process.
