The initial contact was great, they were accommodating and prompt during the planning and design phase, then the red flags started. If you are looking for a company that is responsive and provides quality work, keep looking. Trust me when I say, this has been the WORST experience we have ever had!! They advertise themselves as “drainage engineers”, this couldn’t be any further from the truth. This review comes only after giving this company multiple opportunities and ample time to respond and correct the remaining issues. I don’t often write reviews, but I couldn’t in good conscious not try and prevent another family from having the same experience. Read on for details. 1. I caught the crew before they left on the day that the grading was “completed”, and walked the project with the crew. When we got to the location where the drain for our sump pump had been previously, it was gone. I asked the guy what they did with the drain, and he didn’t have an answer, didn’t know there was a drain there. They buried the drain! So they had to dig to find the drain and reroute it. They attached a 90 and brought the drain to the surface, and laid the sod for the project. Fast forward a few weeks, and we have a slimy wring of dead sod around the drain. It’s winter now so we wait for spring and call to have them come back out to fix the problem. Greg came out in the spring, admitted that it wasn’t done well and said they would fix the problem. They came out, moved the drain further from the house and put a new cover over the drain. Fast forward a few months and the grass and ground around the drain are completely saturated, sloppy, and smell disgusting. Multiple calls are made, speak with Connie multiple times, and multiple times we are told someone will come and look. Then finally we receive a call from Greg on Thursday October 14th, saying he will be out before the end of the weekend to look at the drainage and give us an estimate as to what it will cost to fix the issue. Yes, that’s right, an estimate to fix a problem they created and already “fixed” once. End of the weekend comes, no Greg. Now it is November 5th and still no one has been to look at the issue. Both my wife and I have made multiple calls all of which have gone unanswered and none of our messages have been returned. 2. In the original quote from Mike, there were several “drain items listed totally a few $100 dollars. When asked I was told that it was drainage for behind the retaining wall. So as I am looking over the project after the retaining wall is built, I ask Greg about all the drainage that was in the quote, it isn’t where it was supposed to be…come to find out, it was never installed! Had I not asked the question and pointed it out we would have paid for several items that were never installed. Greg reviewed the estimate and did remove the charges for the items not installed. 3. We had a number of hostas that were to be transplanted at the end of the project. During the project they were placed in another flower bed with hydrangea. At the end of the project, the hostas haven’t been transplanted, so we called Greg and someone was sent to replant them. I get home from work and the hostas are still in their temporary position, and instead, the hydrangea has been dug up and replanted where the hostas were supposed to have been placed. Additionally, the downspout in the area has been completely flattened and destroyed. Yet another call to Greg results in Greg coming out and fixing the planting mistake, only to leave without putting down the mulch that was agreed to in the quote. So another call is placed to Greg, and someone is sent out with mulch and a replacement downspout to replace the one destroyed. Unfortunately my family is leaving as this final work is done, only to arrive home later to find barely enough mulch put down to cover the dirt in the bed. We cut our loss here, and redid the mulch ourselves

From start to finish, Ware Landscaping was absolutely worth it. In the two years we’ve been in our home, we’ve had serious yard drainage issues that caused our basement to flood. I met with 4 other companies to get feedback on solutions and estimated costs, but Mike (the owner) impressed me the most by far. He was very nice, informative, and the only person who not only advised us on a French drain installation, but also recommended re-grading our yard to help ease the flow of water away from our house. Ware was able to start less than 2 weeks after agreeing on the job and finished over the course of 4 days. Greg, the project manager, checked in with me each day to update me on their progress and ensure I was happy with the results. He was super helpful in making sure everything was completed exactly as I requested and then some. The level of detail provided by all the workers was unmatched; our lawn is basically custom cut and sewn together to be an exact fit and not a single leaf was left out of place when they were gone. I’m so happy we decided to go with Ware, it was well worth the investment!

Poor quality work, lack of communication, and other issues. For example, Ware Landscaping promised us they had checked our irrigation lines after they created the French drains. They insisted we immediately let them fill the drains with gravel. We talked them into allowing us to have an irrigation firm test the system because we didn’t trust Ware Landscaping. As it turns out, Ware had in fact accidentally cut our irrigation line and had we trusted Ware and allowed them to backfill the trenches with gravel we would not have been able to determine where the line was cut because it was in the trench. Many other issues including not showing up when they said they would and poor workmanship.
