I do not recommend them. This review is for 3/23/2020. To all who live in the San Marcos, New Braunfels Area, We had a deck put on by what we thought was a reliable company in New Braunfels TX called Home Guard Fencing and Decking..I do not recommend him whatsoever. He never completed the job with finalizing it with the City. We had some issues that we found that we asked him to fix as it is under a year warranty. He busted the irrigation when putting the deck in and caused us to have a high water bill. The builder of our new home Construction Mgr was kind enough to fix it as when we contacted Home Guard and told him he said then he would fix it and never did. Some of the work they did does not look professional at all. We contacted the owner and for several weeks he would not return our calls, emails for text One of the first reasons was in middle of February was the soffit where deck attached and venting blew out the soffit beam. I tried calling owner leaving message I would contact license board in and he suddenly called and he then set a date to come and do the repair on 2/27/2020 and has never showed up. Tried calling, texting and emailing everyday since the middle of February with no response, so we contacted the City Building dept. They told us he never completed the finalization of the inspection for the job and came wanted to come out to inspect. The City Mgr of the building Dept came out three weeks ago inspected and gave us a list of work needing to be done in order to finalize the job. Some of the work is electrical and him not licensed to do electrical work is a big issue, the beam to post is incorrect using 3/4 inch bolts with washers not specified lag screws were used instead, post caps attached with deck screws instead of Simpson fasteners or equivalent nail required screws, I am told the way electrical was done could have caused a fire. The company is called Home Guard Fencing and Decking. They have a FB page too. The owner is Billy Clark. Here are some pictures of the work he did. It is not right he is not honoring his work as he was paid well for it and did not perform the duty of completion. We will now go to small claims next.
