Chelsea Arts Tower

We had installed an acoustically absorbent ceiling, multiple hanging points for state of the art AV presentations, stage lighting, custom chain mail sail ceilings, custom computer controlled shading and lighting systems, 40 tons of HVAC, fire suppression, venetian plaster walls, epoxy terrazzo floors, 11 bathrooms, a custom DMX lighting control system, hundreds of data and AV points and a full production office with ice making capability and secure walk in temperature controlled liquor storage.

All this beauty and tranquility belie the fact that the property started out as a dreary one bedroom with a 6’ high basement no natural light and limited garden access.Excavating the basement, adding a large addition and underpinning the building, the footprint of the space was enlarged creating an stunning space full of natural light.

The custom kitchen maximizes the owner’s ability to entertain with plus 48” six burner Viking stove and Sub-Zero refrigerator, walk in pantry and a double wide counter allowing him to both cook and be part of the party.There is a discreet home office, off of the main living area that can double as a guest suite.The custom built stone mantel, curtain walled gallery and a discreet bar add drama and sophistication in equal measure.

We used a mix of durable materials like Corian, Oak and Thermo-foil to replicate an art gallery that can withstand the rigors of family life.

Keeping the original architectural details of the “printing factory”, iron beams, iron columns and the 100 year old maple floors and adding the rich depth of aniline dye and multiple coats of hand rubbed Tung oil to the wood allowed us to create the perfect gallery of warmth, comfort and luxury.
