Honestly, I was overwhelmed by my downsize in apartment space, and had no idea where to start. Diane saved my life! She is proactive and personable; suggesting new layouts and items to order to maximize storage and space. Her creative approach made organization sessions fun and effective. She is incredibly professional, and brings great perspective to spatial challenges. I really enjoyed our time together, and will be hiring her as an ongoing consultant. She is amazing, and I am confident anyone who works with her will be extremely pleased with her work.

I spent a November afternoon with Diane improving my apartment in a way that would never have been possible without her help. It was so much fun making huge changes to my apartment in a few hours, reusing what I already own. We had an in-depth conversation to give her a better understanding of how I live as a whole and then discussed what I want from my living space. We figured out how to make my apartment work in ways I didn’t expect it could and made most of the changes together on the spot. Diane followed up the next day with drawings and links to a few items, making it easy to continue making improvements.

My apartment in the Lower East Side was feeling really cramped. I thought about moving to a bigger space but I love my landlord and location. In 2 hours, New York at Home helped me make the most out of my space. Now I don't need to move and I feel like I'm living in luxury!

I'm a Brooklyn based artist and recently worked with Diane at New York at Home. She put together a new layout and plan for how to make the most of my studio. My workspace felt cramped and disorganized after a recent move and her advice transformed my space in simple and practical ways. I loved working with Diane -- her ideas and energy are spot on and she is wise without being preach-y, with the right amount of proactive encouragement. Her smart recommendations are enabling me to accomplish so much more by making small adjustments what I already have. It was not only helpful but also very enjoyable. Diane has a great overall philosophy-- relevant to organization and beyond. I recommend her enthusiastically to anyone who is looking to get the most out of their space home or work space. -- Ryan Brooklyn, NY

Lower East Side studio apartment | Feb 2016 | After living with roommates and having 3 closets, a start-up creative who loves fashion got her own place: a beautiful LES studio with 1 closet. As you can imagine, the clothes didn't fit into the closet and suitcases and bags of clothing took over. The project took 15 hours. Phone call to discuss project and see if it would be a good fit. Meet up in the apartment for half an hour to get a game plan together. Session 1: Discussed proposed layout drawing but it wasn't quite right. Sorted all the clothes with occasional feedback. Donated 10 Costco bags full of items. Remaining clothing fit in the closet plus it could open and close easily! Took a cab to a thrift shop and got a receipt for my client's tax purposes. Session 2: Emailed links to suggested accessories that would make the apartment work a bit better. Purchased minor organizing tools and new bulbs (about $50 worth of items) as well as a revised floor plan that incorporated all the feedback. Layout was approved and adjusted furniture on the spot. Organized kitchen. Session 3: Organize bathroom. Hang artwork. Install shoe organizer. Second pass at remaining clothing. Donate more items. | $3k | New York, NY
Hoboken 2 bedroom - home office session | Jan 2016 | I work with this client once a month for $500/session, addressing a different part of her home each visit. In January 2016, we worked on her home office. A hectic job with lots of travel takes up a lot of this client's energy so we spend an afternoon each month focusing on gettting her apartment set up the way she dreamed. After working from home on the living room sofa for months because the home office became a storage area, it was time for a long term change. Occasionally clearing off the desk-top would take a lot of effort, she would still work from the couch, and the desk would get covered a few days later. After discussing how the office was used and what items are important, I showed how much storage existed in the area and how little was being used for anything that was directly related to current (past year) projects. We removed some furniture, relocated a bike desk from an odd spot in the bedroom to the new space in the office, and all of a sudden the room as a whole is inviting. This room took 5 hours to transform this room from a space for stuff to space for people. | $3k | Hoboken, NJ
Upper East Side studio - art installation | Jan 2016 | Work together to figure out where to hang artwork. Installation of artwork, shelving, and wine rack. | $250 | New York, NY
Lower East Side studio - space planning | Nov 2015 | After 2 hours, a client's too-cramped studio felt like a spacious one bedroom. 45 minutes were spent discussing goals. 40 minutes were spent brainstorming. The new layout took the remaining 30 minutes to complete. The last 5 minutes we admired the work! | $400 | New York, NY
Upper East Side 1 bedroom | Nov 2015 | Moving in together can be complicated. Finding a new place can be expensive. Making one person's apartment feel like our apartment can be easier with professional help. Some items were moved into the living room. Other items were moved into a storage unit for $50/month. Six months with a storage unit is a great way to make times of transition easier. Painting the apartment was provided by the landlord. A new bed with storage created much needed additional clothing storage and made the room feel new. | $5k | New York, NY |
