Architect - Nutley, NJ
CSRArchitects was established in 2009 as the union of the architects Lia Costa e Silva and Davide Roth. We are a young and dynamic company with a very strong international experience, having worked within outstanding architectural practices on world class interventions. Our personal work includes design partnerships with both public and private clients in more than 10 countries. Every intervention is site specific, cultural specific and, above all, client driven. We design spaces for men's life. We conceive those spaces thinking about the people they will host and the kind of lifestyle they will have. We think that the surrounding space has a direct influence on our behaviour and wellness. Thus, a well designed space will provide a pleasant lifestyle to who will live it. Our architecture is functional and sometimes experimental. We keep in particular consideration the relationship between exterior and interior and the flexibility of these. Our commitment to our clients expectations aims to provide a very good place where to live/work/enjoy.

Retreat House is the Arizona Desert | Jan 2013 | Made of brickwork and rammed earth walls, finished with stone and wood details, the proposed house is an ensemble of rooms fully opened towards the desert landscape. It is conceived as a dynamic series of volumes attached to a central spine. This organizational solution has been used to achieve the two primary targets of this project: - Provision of outstanding views of the mountains - Space planning optimization The plan is developed along a central volume orientated North-South. This volume contains most of the services (bathrooms, closets, storages) requested by the programme. The living, dining and bedrooms are located along this spine and are designed to work as a sequence of rooms, making the space more efficient and avoid hallways as much as possible. This concept of ?sequence? is remarked by the variable internal heights of the rooms that gives different perception of each space. The entrance is located in the centre of the building. This space is the junction of the main area (Living, dining, kitchen and master suite), the guest bedrooms area (located towards North) and the office space. Each of these sub-habitats can work independently and benefit of more privacy. The design creates double height spaces to connect upper floor rooms with lower level spaces. | Sedona, AZ |
