Replace old standard furnace with new 95% high efficiency gas furnace, install AC & accessories.

Jul 2014

Replaced old standard furnace with new Energy Star 95% sealed combustion gas furnace at new location (created more space for basement adjacent room renovation). Removed window evaporative cooler, installed new ultra quiet small footprint High Efficiency R410A Central Air Conditioning in narrow side yard, installed a new High Efficiency (HEPA) filtering system and a new Honeywell digital programmable smart thermostat. After discounts and available utility rebate, total out of pocket cost to homeowners was approx. $7800.00.

Add Central Air Conditioning to exisitng furnace system

Jan 2014

We were asked to see if we could add AC to the homeowners existing forced air furnace & heating system. We installed a new AC by removing the existing furnace, adding the new indoor cooling coil, rotating the existing furnace 90 degrees and re-installing it above the new cooling coil. This provided the homeowner with the ability to open the entry door to the furnace room "all the way", as it would hit the front of the furnace before because of it's orientation (see before & after pics). We also added a high efficiency and more easily accessible / serviceable filtering system, a whole home warm air humidifier for improved comfort and air quality and a new Honeywell digital programmable energy saving smart thermostat. We also discovered that the original return air duct system was not properly ducted and was pulling outside air from the outdoor ventilated crawl space wasting potentially thousands of dollars in the past. We were able to add an insulated and sealed return air duct system to the center of the home through the attic saving the homeowners potentially thousands of $$$s in energy costs over time. The refrigeration piping and wiring was routed through the homes crawl space to the new outdoor AC location for a "like original" installation (no exposed piping or conduits).

Large 3 Level Home (approx. 4500') - Issue: Poor Upper Floor Cooling

Nov 2011

Homeowner had recently moved into 20 year old 3- level home with a 4 zone system connected to a single 92% gas furnace & ducted to the main & upper floors with a 2nd furnace to service the basement. The upper floor did not cool adequately which homeowners believed was because of the damper system. Our diagnose was that the system was poorly designed & the single furnace lacked the blower capacity to provide sufficient cooling to all 4 zones during peak summer conditions with the upper floor reaching temperatures above 80F degrees. The solution was to remove the damper system & install 2- new Carrier/Bryant 96% 2 stage high efficiency furnaces with DC-ECM high performance blowers -- one for the main floor and one for the upper floor. We also replaced one large air conditioner with two new high efficiency 16.0 SEER air conditioners correctly sized for their respective floors. We also installed whole home warm air humidifiers, high efficiency media filters and Carrier Edge Smart thermostats connected to existing zone sensors. All combined to solve upper floor cooling issue as well improved heating, comfort, indoor air quality and efficiency / economy. The upfront investment for this project was approx. $18,500. After combined system discounts, utility rebates and federal tax credits, the net cost to the homeowners was approx. $14,500. The following year the customer was so pleased with the improved "heating" comfort level that they had us replace the remaining basement furnace with another Carrier/Bryant 96% 2 stage furnace with a DC-ECM high efficiency blower motor for an additional investment of approx. $4,300.
