1/5 I deeply regret hiring Red Beard Home Services for our bathroom remodel. What was supposed to be a 3-week project turned into an 11-week nightmare that Alex, the owner, walked away from, leaving the job incomplete and a disaster for us to clean up. From the start, the demolition was an absolute mess. No vents were covered, and minimal protection was hung, resulting in dust filling our entire house. The lack of care was so extreme that our furnace filter was completely clogged, causing damage to our AC system that required replacement. Alex agreed to cover diagnostic fees and duct cleaning but ignored the invoice and ultimately decided to abandon the job without fulfilling this commitment. The issues only got worse. Alex boasted about his tile crew, claiming one was among the best, but the reality was far different. The crew consisted of amateurs who botched the entire job. The tile work was so bad that most of it had to be redone, though Alex blamed the “style of the tile” for some of the poor results. He didn’t even know who was on-site most of the time, leading to unprofessional behavior like a worker bringing a child to the job. The second crew did a better job, but the bathroom still turned out disappointing, with poor grout and tile quality. The problems didn’t stop there. Alex ordered the wrong window, leading to flooding during the project, and every decision he made required redoing due to lack of quality—whether it was poorly stained plywood shelves, uneven doors, or trashed carpet from inadequate protection. Even worse, Alex had the audacity to claim that the repairs to his subpar work were “favors.” To make matters worse, we had to completely change the original bathroom design just to make it functional. The poor execution of the initial plan left us with no choice but to alter key elements, sacrificing the design we had envisioned. This not only added more time and frustration to the project but also resulted in a finished product that fell far short of our expectations. Throughout the entire process, I was forced to take on the role of project manager because Alex was almost never on-site to oversee the work himself. His lack of presence and attention to detail meant that I had to constantly step in to manage the crew, coordinate tasks, and address the numerous issues that arose. This not only added stress to an already frustrating situation but also made it clear that Alex was not committed to ensuring the quality of the work. His absence was a major factor in the project’s many failures, and it’s unacceptable that a homeowner should have to take on this level of responsibility when hiring a professional service. It took almost the entire duration of the project to get a sincere apology, and even then, Alex consistently blamed us for problems he created due to his lack of attention and skill. To top it all off, as the job approached its final weeks, Alex chose to step away, leaving us with a mess to fix on our own. Do not be fooled by the promises of Red Beard Home Services. What they deliver is far from the vision they sell. Instead, you’ll be left with a botched, DIY-looking disaster that will only bring frustration and additional costs. Avoid this company at all costs.

All in all the quality of the work was ok, although the painting was poor and messy in my opinion. Several of the issues with the painting that I had pointed out were not addressed. Communication was pretty poor, found trash (from one of the worker's lunch) left in my backyard one day, the back yard which is visible to all neighbors was not cleaned up or organized after each day's work. My theater room which has thousands of dollars of equipment was covered with drywall dust, nothing was covered and protected prior to cutting and opening in a wall. I complained and received no response. Equipment was unhooked and not re-hooked up nor was I notified. There was little to not clean-up done at the completion of the job. The job took longer than expected as there was rarely a full day worked.

Alex has been a tremendous help with our new home. I contacted a couple of other handymen before I found Alex. I had a lot of trouble just getting a call back from other handymen. Alex was very responsive from the beginning and communication was always prompt. His skills as a handyman are also exemplary and we've been very happy with his work. Alex put up ship lap and is building me a barn door. No job is to big or to small for him. He's on our speed dial NOW. 5 star service for sure!!!
