Upon receiving his Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Florida State University in 1995, Richard Perkins returned to his home town of Pensacola, Florida. For eight years Richard honed his interior design and architectural skills with a local architectural firm that specialized in church design, historic preservation, public municipal projects, and high-end residential houses. During this time Richard Perkins received his Professional Interior Design License from the State of Florida (FL License No. ID 0004412), Board of Architecture & Interior Design. Richard is also certified as a Professional Member of the American Society of Interior Designers(www.asid.org). In 2003 Richard established Richard Perkins, Inc., which provides Residential Design Services, as well as, Interior Design Services (FL License No. IB 26000621). These services have produced projects that range from interior space planning, to home additions, to new house designs that have exceeded 10,000 square feet. By incorporating the knowledge of design elements and principles, a sensitivity to architectural detail, and an ear for each client's needs, Richard continues to produce award winning designs. Residential Home Design services offered by Richard Perkins, Inc. begin with an interview process that verifies the client's wants and needs. After developing a project program, schematic designs are produced for the client's review. These schematic designs are then developed into more detailed design solutions that are acceptable to the client. Once the client has approved the design solution, Construction Documents are produced in CAD format. The construction documents will provide the contractor with the necessary information to construct the project. If necessary, Richard Perkins, Inc. will coordinate the construction documents with a Structural Engineer to meet codes required by the pertaining Building Permitting Department. Interior Design (Residential & Commercial) services offered by Richard Perkins, Inc. include space planning, lighting design, custom cabinetry design, custom interior trim / molding design, interior finish schedules, and handicap accessibility code requirements. Since the client is usually not aware of all the details specified in the construction documents, construction administration is offered to ensure that your project is being built as specified. This service includes job-site meetings with the contractor, review of submittals from sub-contractors, and meeting notes to record necessary actions by all parties involved.
