The movers came yesterday at 8am s promised. They moved us from 27612 to 27617. Even though we had some tight areas and worried about wall damage they did great. I still don t know how they moved my piano without damaging the walls. I ll be using them again

I have moved 12 times and this is the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. The pack-up day was extremely disorganized. The movers took items apart randomly, leaving parts scattered and not matched up. They ran out of moving blankets and had to borrow some of our blankets. When they ran out of wrapping plastic, I had to go to Lowe’s Home Improvement to get them more so they could finish the move the same day. We never received our blankets back and were never reimbursed for the plastic rolls the movers took with them. We moved from a 1900 square foot townhouse and were charged for a full day for three(3) movers as well as several hours of overtime for them, from 830am until 8:30pm at night just for the move out. This is an extraordinary number of hours for the amount of items we contracted to move. Part of the problem was the disorganization, lack of sufficient materials and the truck that the owner of Family Movers had rented for our move was too small; the three (3) movers on-site spent much of the last several hours at our home rearranging items on the truck, taking items back off, sitting them in the yard and eventually cramming them into the truck. We were never told that to store our items, the movers would unwrap all the furniture and rewrap it on the day of the move-in, because they needed to use the moving blankets, for lack of enough materials at their warehouse to keep our items wrapped in storage. So, we basically paid this poorly managed company to move our items four (4) times. On move-in day, Nick, the owner, says the three (3) movers started loading our items at the warehouse at 8:30am; they did not arrive to our home until 3:30pm. Although I called him three (3) times, Nick never called me to explain what was going on, and when I did ask several times what was taking so long, he never explained what the movers were doing for so long with our items. When they did arrive, numerous items were heavily damaged. The list is attached. The California King wood frame master bed with built-in underneath storage drawers looked as if it had fallen off the truck at some point. The frame with drawers is severely damaged and cannot be repaired; the frame will have to be replaced. There are gouges of missing paint on a nightstand. Our great quality dining chairs have not just scratches, but scrapes, dents and gouges of paint missing on the top of every chair. There are several pieces of pottery broken; one from Israel, which can not be fixed and likely not replaced easily. One of a very high quality leather recliners had a foot completely broken off! A recently purchased floor lamp was broken in several places, the top globe will not fit and the wire is broken so that it is unable to be repaired and must be replaced. The metal kitchen trash can was dented and scratched and cannot be repaired; this will have to be replaced. The hardwood floors were scratched in several places, where it looks like heavy items were slid across floors and heavy items were dragged and/or dropped on the floors, leaving gouges where the stain and sealer are completely removed. The walls in the living room and the handrail going to the upstairs were gouged , scraped and broken by the movers. As we unpacked our boxes, we can across a box that is not our, so I know that we have missing boxes that are not accounted for; these boxes contain clothing and bathroom/kitchen items that we had packed into moving boxes , expecting to receive upon move in. That is reasonable when contracting with a moving company. The glass inserts for our kitchen dining table were not delivered the day of the move. I called Nick twice; he finally located the 2 glasses at the warehouse and told me that they would be delivered to us the next day, on Saturday. The glasses were not delivered and when I tried to call Nick, he did not answer the phone; there was no voice mail set up for me to leave a message. I called several times on Sunday and again on Monday, with no way to leave a message. On Tuesday, I had to google Family Movers and send Nick a message from the Contact Us section of the Family Movers website. I explained to him how disappointed we are in this moving company, that the missing glass was very discouraging since we had no way to sit at our table to eat meals while the glass was missing. I told him that, if we did not receive the glass that day, I was going to call WRALTV and ABC11 and speak with their Consumer Complaint reporters. The glass was delivered, very dirty, with sticky substances and heavy dirt, later that day.
