With contractors, you’re always trying to balance cost, timeline, & quality. With Rocky of IT, I didn't have to settle - I got the lowest cost, fastest timeline, and best quality. The Problem - I have had a harrowing experience w/HVAC subs. For our remodel, we put in radiant heat so our HVAC system was really just air purification, which we did as a preventative measure given a tight building envelope & the need for bringing in fresh air. We originally specified an HRV-based system with UV lights to both remove and purify the air. But odors persisted. So we tested the air & found very high levels of VOCs (toxic chemicals). However, we found out a major source of the problem was the system itself - the odors came from behind the walls. We have radon gas and a our stinky crawlspace and odors from insulation & plywood in our attic. Naturally, that is where our HVAC equipment resides. Whenever we turned the systems on, they made the air inside worse - there were myriad leaks so the air handlers just sucked in bad air from the crawlspace & attic & pumped it into our living spaces & lungs. The original contractor failed to seal the connections & seams in the duct work or the plenums. The amateurs that followed similarly did poor work & it was compounded by the fact the home was already finished, so access was very challenging and in some places impossible (behind walls). After going through numerous contractors, I found Rocky. He promptly started on my punch list and went methodically through each problem area. No job was too much for Rocky and no job was too menial. He would crawl anywhere, seal the hardest to reach connections & generally fix anything he could. Once you’ve got a finished home, it is so difficult to seal every area due to access. But thanks to Rocky's willingness to stay until my concerns were satisfied, we finally have a home. He also really excels at controls. The level of sophistication we achieved with standard Honeywell Prestige thermostats is remarkable. My home is totally connected, I can change modes instantly with my phone, e.g., bring in fresh air by opening dampers, turn on purifiers, HRVs, set humidity, etc. The system has excellent flexibility & Rocky made it happen. The biggest difference was Rocky listened to what I wanted & executed while being as responsive on timing as possible. I'm so glad to have finally found find somebody who had the attention to detail & concern for the proper outcome that I was needing. I only wish I'd found him years early.
