I needed two small renovations done: replace the bathtub (the enamel was peeling off in large pieces) and replace the screening and the screen door on the front porch. QHR regularly advertises in the neighborhood newsletter, and I contacted them for a quote. Two days later, the project manager was at the house (the plumbing sub-contractor was with him) looking at the bathroom and porch. Two days after his visit, I had an e-mail with the quote. The quote seemed a bit high, but it was within the range of reasonableness. I contacted QHR the following week to accept the quote and to arrange payment and scheduling. The crew arrived every day at the planned time, and they worked pretty consistently each day (i.e., no super-extended breaks). The work area was left reasonably clean each day. The entire project was completed on time, an important consideration for me since I had to board my two dogs for the week. Two observations: (1) QHR purchases its materials from Lowe's. I was asked to go to the nearby Lowe's store to select tile, bathtub fixtures, and a screen door and to then give QHR that information for them to then purchase. I felt comfortable doing that, but I imagine that some people might have a different view. (2) Perhaps in retrospect, the price seems a bit high. But as my mother always reminded me, you get what you pay for. I needed a reliable contractor who would do the work when scheduled. QHR was reliable, and if I paid a premium for that, it was money well spent.

  | Bungalow Style Pool Cabana | Oct 2014 | This project was simply fun to build! Our challenge was to build a 550 SF bungalow pool house which would replicate the original 1920s main house and carriage house on the property. This new construction has all the bells and whistles which include a full house generator, polk sound system, custom shower both inside and out, custom bookcases and furniture which was commissioned by a local artisan! The pool house was in a flood zone so the structure had to be elevated to meet building code. The biggest compliment for this project was when the tax assessor came on site and could not figure out which building was new!
