The Urban Cottage was APR Studio for years. We decided to renovate and cream a vacation urban oasis. This involved a complete stripping and moving of interior walls,new plumbing and electrical. Basically a gut job from top to bottom along with a total landscape renovation. It’s shabby chic meets high tech and it’s all in the details! The Urban Cottage at The Bryant House is a newly restored 950 square foot Historic cottage just blocks away from the inter coastal waterway. It was built in 1939 for Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bryant. As owners of McKown's Market, the Bryants worked downtown and raised their family in this quaint cottage. Lovingly restored, the sensitive and sustainable renovation has maintained a cottage feel with all the modern conveniences in a fantastic downtown location. The Urban Cottage is now a vacation rental with Sarasota Florida as your vacation destination, https://www.vrbo.com/762430 The majestic hand carved Mahogany 4 Post king-sized bed along with high quality bedding and down comforters creates a romantic, elegant Master Bedroom that is spacious and inviting. The Living Room has views of 50 year old azalea bushes planted by Mrs. Bryant in the front garden. A leather sectional couch provides a comfortable resting area for guests. The open floor plan allows viewing of the 40” LED Smart TV from the Kitchen, Living and Dining Rooms. The sparkling new eat in gourmet Kitchen overlooks the private back yard and has all the amenities including brand new appliances with washer and dryer. A modern spa inspired Bath Room has tile, marble, inlaid pebble stone and a walk in shower with fresh fluffy towels provided. The bright and sunny Dining Room has windows on 3 walls, French doors and a dining table that seats 6 with a picturesque view that lets you enjoy Florida's natural beauty while you dine. A lush tropical yard with mango, avocado and loquat trees, sweet smelling jasmine and frangipani surround a fire pit to warm up to or lounge about for sunbathing and enjoying the beautiful Florida climate. Bringing in the colors of the sea was an easy color direction to fit their lifestyle. Venetian Plaster added the modern touch needed for their accent ceiling trays in their living room and dining room. The master bath is a shimmery wash of pearl over a relaxing aqua. tone.

APR was called in to tackle a barrel ceiling which was had scaffold over a 3 story winding staircase. It had to be done quickly and it had to be done now. We decided on a two toned cream Venetian Plaster finish. By the time we were done the interior designer, John Collins and the homeowner started asking about ideas for other areas. We had set the tone for sophisticated, elegant finishes to work with the beautiful warm wood tones created by St. Andrew's Woodworking and the rich fabrics selected by John Collins. This 24,000 square foot house was a collaboration between the homeowner, who was a gentleman with specific requirements and his artisans. The elegance of a well turned yacht was achieved by the combination of wood,fabric and Venetian Plaster ceilings throughout reflecting the Gulf of Mexico. A personal office for myself and my staff enabled us to create on site innovative Venetian Plaster finishes throughout this home's ceilings and walls. A most pleasurable experience was had by all!
