Since 1983, Rick Daugherty's 3rd story architecture, design and planning has been an award-winning design firm and has been a strong force among prominent architectural circles of custom home design in the western United States. Rick has the rare ability and knowledge that allows him to visualize design forms from both artistic and technical angles. Historically inspired, he creates and combines his designs to form an architectural style reflective of the client's desires. His mastery encompasses a wide range of architecture from old-world and neoclassic/southwestern styles, to contemporary/primitive. He is especially fond of Fusion Architecture which allows him to blend two design styles in a new and dramatic way. Rick is personally involved in the entire design process including lot evaluations, project programming, and realistic budgeting. He also is available to assist in the process of interviewing, hiring, and coordinating of the other team members such as general contractors, engineers and other trades required for a successful project. By leading the client through each step, Rick provides helps make an otherwise overwhelming process an exciting and enjoyable one for his clients. Through the use of the latest computer technology and "Virtual Reality" software, Rick's highly trained staff is able to tangibly demonstrate his design. Even before construction begins, clients are able to see their home on their lot as if it were already built. This amazing process enables clients to view realistic images of the form their home or commercial project will ultimately take.

Bath Remodel | Mar 2013 | Chrysalis Award Entry Bath Remodel When Rick Daugherty Architecture began shower replacement, the open wall revealed mold-filled stud cavities, necessitating full bath/master closet remodel. The challenge of delivering the bathtub was resolved by cutting a hole in the garage to accommodate the Japanese soaking tub's deep dimensions. Design decisions were driven by a rectalinear and cylindrical geometrical theme. From the cylindrical tub in the cubic marble grain-matched platform to cylindrical showerhead with square escutcheon plates, project design is consistent. A wardrobe cabinet design instead of conventional rod and shelf protects clothing from Arizona dust.
