Gaskin | Aug 2017 | Gaskin This renovation was for a couple who were world travelers and wanted to bring their collected furniture pieces from other countries into the eclectic design of their house. The style is a mix of contemporary with the façade of the house, the entryway door, the stone on the fireplace, the quartz kitchen countertops, the mosaic kitchen backsplash are in juxtaposition to the traditional kitchen cabinets, hardwood floors and style of the master bath and closet. As you enter through the handcrafted window paned door into the foyer, you look up to see the wood trimmed clearstory windows that lead to the backyard entrance. The blinds are made of fabric and remote controlled so as to make for easy opening and closing. The house became a showcase for the special pieces and the designer and clients were pleased with the result. | $900k | Paradise Valley, AZ
Contemporary Scottsdale Kitchen | Jul 2017 | Contemporary, galley style kitchen with a window pass through to the dining room, stainless steel appliances, industrial glass island pendants, quartz countertops with an overhang for seating and mocha crackled glass subway backsplash applied vertically instead of horizontally. | $70k | Scottsdale, AZ
Taylor Kitchen | Jun 2017 | This remodel was for a family that wanted a contemporary style kitchen with a mix of modern and traditional elements. To bring in the traditional, we installed Shaker style cabinets but updated them in a grey-brown color for the perimeter and a navy blue for the island. The cabinet hardware is a bronze color with a modern design-bar pulls instead of knobs for all cabinets and drawers. To emulate the color of the cabinet hardware, the island pendants are a bronze wire fixture in addition to the bronze brackets holding up the wine rack display. The countertops are a marble design quartz and the appliances are stainless steel. The backsplash on the stove wall is a contemporary linen-like tile installed in a chevron design and the coffee bar area is also a linen-like tile but in an abstract design. There is a walnut shelf above the quartz countertops to bring in some warmth and rustic elements to the area. For a more contemporary feel, we left the HVAC exposed but painted it white as well as the traditional wooden beams. Overall, the design team and the clients felt the kitchen lived up to their expectations and more of what a Contemporary design could be. | $71k | Scottsdale, AZ
Bickett | Mar 2017 | Transitional kitchen with rustic elements such as wood shelves and wood flooring and barn doors as well as classic elements with the subway tile and marble countertops. Stainless steel appliances and electrical fixtures were brought in for a modern touch. The same feel is brought into the bathrooms as well with Shaker cabinets and cement tiles in the guest bath and the glass tiles in the master bath. | $165k | Scottsdale, AZ
74th Place | Feb 2017 | This project was for a whole house remodel that was created for a couple who had a desire to redesign their existing 1970’s home, but wanted to keep a lot of the feel and features of the existing space. We took their input and created a kitchen that was updated and modernized but still maintained the overall character and feel of their current home design. To facilitate their desire for an entertainment space, we went with an open concept with plenty of seating; this space is great for entertaining a large group of friends or family members while the host prepares a meal. Traditional elements such as marble countertops, rustic cedar shelves, old world en-caustic cement tiles, European oak oiled floors, and white shaker in set cabinetry were juxtaposed with contemporary features such as sleek stainless appliances, white quartz perimeter countertops, floating shelves, and contemporary plumbing fixtures to create a balanced, contemporary feel to the kitchen. In addition, we added a banquet to provide a cozy, colorful eating area. The master bath was designed to make sure the open feeling of the space remained with a traditional design but with a contemporary flair. To keep the openness, we kept the freestanding bathtub on one side and the shower on the other with his and hers toilet closets flanking each side. While the traditional elegance is brought in with wainscoting, crown moulding, white Shaker vanity, crystal chandelier, sconces, and marble tile; the contemporary style is designed with the linen-like porcelain tile flooring, white quartz countertops and tile pattern in the shower. Overall, the designer and the clients loved the balance between luxury and comfort, old and new, contemporary and classic as well as the high-end style. | $1.6m | Scottsdale, AZ
Hudson | Jan 2017 | Transitional kitchen with rustic elements such as wood backsplash and wood shelves. Stainless steel appliances and electrical fixtures were brought in for a modern touch. Built in buffet area with a pantry on each side. Brown Shaker cabinets and granite countertops. | $50k | Scottsdale, AZ
Stellar | Sep 2016 | This remodel was for a family that purchased a new home and just moved from Denver. They wanted a traditional design with a few hints of contemporary and an open feel concept with the adjoining rooms. We removed the walls surrounding the kitchen to achieve the openness of the space but needed to keep the support so we installed an exposed wooden beam. This brought in a traditional feature as well as using a reclaimed piece of wood for the brick fireplace mantel. The kitchen cabinets are the classic, white style with mesh upper cabinet insets. To further bring in the traditional look, we installed white, subway tile, butcherblock countertop for the island and glass island electrical fixtures but offset it with stainless steel appliances and a quartz countertop. In the adjoining bonus room, we framed the entryway and windows with a square, white trim, which adds to the contemporary aspect. And for a fun touch, the clients wanted a little bar area and a kegerator installed. We kept the more contemporary theme with the stainless steel color and a white quartz countertop. The clients were delighted with how the kitchen turned out and how spacious the area felt in addition to the seamless mix of styles. | $110k | Phoenix, AZ |
