Do not work with Nancy Sainz from Sonoran Desert Construction LLC. She is a scammer. I want to share my personal experience dealing with her. My wife and I first met with Nancy on August 29, 2024, when she came to our house to give us an estimate for flooring. She recommended tiles from Floor & Decor and promised to pick them up for us for free. She also claimed that since we were new customers, she would give us multiple discounts, including no tax. That same day, she sent us an estimate for $6,533.90. Between then and August 31, 2024, she kept calling and texting, asking if we had made a decision. We finally agreed to the quote on August 31, 2024, and she requested at least a 50% deposit to secure the project start date. After some negotiation, we agreed to a 30% deposit. On September 3, 2024, when we tried to confirm the free tile pickup, Nancy refused. She said we needed to pay an additional 10% deposit for her to pick up the tiles for free. My wife and I immediately felt something was off and decided to cancel the project and request a refund of our deposit. She refused to refund us, claiming the $1,960 deposit had already been used to purchase materials and reserve a dumpster. When we asked for receipts or the materials she had supposedly bought, she refused again. Then, on September 19, 2024, we reached out to Nancy, asking if she could pick up the tiles if we paid an extra 10%. She again refused and demanded $653.39 for the pickup from Floor & Decor, even though the store is only 15 minutes away from our home. This was shocking. The next day, on September 20, 2024, she sent us a message offering to do the pickup for free but only if we paid another 10% deposit. At that point, we no longer trusted her and decided to pick up the tiles ourselves. To make matters worse, on September 20, 2024, Nancy threatened us, saying, "If you break the contract, you will be in breach of the agreement contract signed and will pay attorney fees and what is owed. Lien is in process regardless, no sign is necessary from you. The contract is proof of the project." This was alarming, especially considering we hadn't even signed a contract. Additionally, before starting the project, Nancy said, "Before I start your project, I'm going to put a lien on your house just in case we don't get paid." We refused because, based on her previous actions, we no longer trusted her. We offered any other form of payment guarantee, but she insisted on placing a lien on our house. When we refused, she said, "You don't have to sign the lien, it will be placed regardless." This was alarming and further solidified our mistrust. On September 23, 2024, we told Nancy we needed a signed contract on the project start date, September 30, 2024, which should clearly outline the final price and completion date. Once again, she refused, saying that the original estimate was the contract. I hadn't even signed it! I explained that I needed a full contract for her to begin work, but she kept insisting that the unsigned estimate was enough. At this point, my wife and I lost all patience and trust. We are now pursuing legal action to get our deposit($1960) refunded.
