Historic Exterior Refinish

Oct 2014

This project was a repaint of an exterior on the water in Shoreacres. The house is one of three Houston area historic houses built around 1932. From the website, "The Isaiah Poole Walker was built in 1932 along the Galveston Bay in the City of Shoreacres that was developed as a coastal community in 1925. It stands as the oldest, extant residential home in Shoreacres. Done in a Tudor Revival style, this two-story house was utilized by the Walker family of Houston, Texas as an excursion residence more commonly known as a Fish Camp in its day. Referred to as the Little Castle, the exterior walls are made of thick stone cut in rough form. A turret rises above the roof to encase the spiral staircase. Also known as the Treehouse, the south side of the house has four columns done in the Trabajo Rustico (Rustic Work) style. The Walker house is the only known residential structure in Harris County to prominently utilize this rare unique style of molded cement in the form of tree trunks and branches in its structure. The interior of the house contains unique wood craftsmanship practiced by maritime carpenters. The Walker house was built by Preston Plumb, Jr. who was the son-in-law of Isaiah Poole Walker. The Preston Plumb family of Plumb, Sr. and Plumb, Jr. would be some of the first real estate developers and home builders for the City of West University Place in Harris County." The challenges included an accute attention to detail to paint around the murals, fake trees, large custom windows, and turret areas. Material used: Sherwin Williams Duration exterior paint with extra mildicide, extensive taping materials, and mold killer.

Seabrook Exterior Refinish

Oct 2012

This project was a large exterior repaint in Seabrook, TX. We taped and masked all windows and horizontal surfaces so that we could spray and roll the paint on the exterior of the house. We prepped and power washed all the spindles, railing, decking, entry porches, rear patio enclosure, A/C platform, lattice, and doors. The only issue we had was access to the second and third story balconies. We had to use our tallest ladders to get up to the different balconies and it ended up working out just fine. The project was large in scope and detail and showed off our attention to detail and skill. The materials used for this job included: gallons of Sherwin Williams Duration paint with extra mildecide (due to the house's proximity to the water), masking materials, degreaser and mold killer (for power washing), caulk and rust killer/inhibitor.

Sign painting for Big League Dreams

Aug 2014

Big League Dreams contracted us to repaint their signs on their baseballs and bat. We had trouble finding a company that could print out a cutout for the letters on the rounded surfaces of the baseballs and bats. We ended up using large stencil stickers and doing touch ups with small artistic brushes. The materials included painting the baseballs twice, adding the stencils and touch up detail, and adding a pho glaze to the bat before adding the sign stencil.
