Steven Chayer began painting old New England farm houses almost 45 years ago. The first was the historic Chapin House in Westbrook, Maine, his hometown. Since then he's mastered the craft and painted homes in Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Alaska and for the last 25 years greater Seattle. He is an expert and a professional. The application of paint is only 20% of a beautiful, exciting and durable paint finish, eighty percent is the surface preparation and here he is a stickler. Wall covering removal, drywall repairs, texture matching, stain removal and plaster repairs all require skilled, caring craftsmanship. You only get a beautiful paint finish if you care about surface preparation. "Today's paints offer compelling features and excellent durability if they are applied properly over properly prepared surfaces. " I cannot stress enough how important this is." I try to establish trust faster than most with excellent communication, sensitivity for the customer's home, and the general ease my customers have with me, a personable serviceman around. These all make for an overall positive experience when you hire Seattle Painting & Decorating Company.

Seatac Christmas Present | Jan 2014 | Husband asked his wife what she wanted for Christmas. She said just one thing....a new bathroom. We removed all old bathroom fixtures and flooring and replaced with new toilet & vanity. The coral colored tub remained in place and was refinished white to match the sink basin & toilet fixteres. The results were very successful and the tub looks brand new. The walls were painted a rich dark color to match the granite top back ground. The existing built-in cabinet top was very painted to recreate the vanity top's Baltic brown granite pattern. Several coats of polyurethane were applied overtop to protect and add depth. See the photos and compare the quality of the match. The customer was ecstatic! | $7k | Seatac, WA
Issaquah Ceilings | Jan 2014 | The customer had hired an asbestos abatement company to removed the asbestos ceiling texture. They left the sheet rock seams in rough condition, unsuitable for painting. They also damaged the walls in each of the rooms they worked in. We floated the seams and nail spots with taping compound, sanded, prime coated and applied an orange peel texture. The ceilings were then finished with two coats of flat paint. We also installed crown molding in the living, dining, entry and hallway and finished it. The wall damage was repaired and the all walls repainted. We then re-hung the chandeliers, ceiling lights and smoke detectors. | $5k | Issaquah, WA
Saint James Cathedral Wall Repairs | Jul 2013 | Roof Flashing had given way and rain water entered the cathedral walls causing the plaster to separate from it's lathe. Large sections of wall were stained and scaling as a result. We erected several tiers of scaffolding to gain access to the areas needing work and repaired them. | $15k | Seattle, WA

Maple Valley Interior | Jan 2013 | The owner had remodeled several 17' high angled walls in his living room/hallway to open up the room and wanted a professional painter to apply the finishes.
