General Contractor - Seattle, WA
Born and raised in Chehalis, WA, Kevin also attended school in Germany where he learned to speak the native language fluently. He received a degree in Chemistry from Columbia University, New York, NY where he remained for 14 years before returning to Seattle. While in New York, Kevin's passion for craftsmanship took him from a career in medicine, like his siblings, to a career in the construction of luxury loft residences in Manhattan. Forming a working partnership with an I.M. Pei architect whom he had befriended at Columbia University Kevin had a successful business catering to the needs of New York's artistic elite. Fortunately for Seattle area wine lovers, Kevin was able to combine his craftsmanship with his love of wine into Vintage Solutions, Custom Wine Cellars. Also, talk to Kevin about his amateur winery, Chocolate Hills Estates. Wine professionals all over the Puget Sound are raving about its quality.

Redmond closet | Aug 2013 | We built custom wine racks in a hard to fit understairs closet. The client had already prepared the room. We were able to get over 700 bottles in this small space, utilizing the complicated geometry of the closet to it's fullest. | $5k | Redmond, WA
Bridle Trails | Jan 2013 | We converted a bar/entrance room into a beautiful wine cellar. Room was gutted, plumbing moved, walls rearranged and insulated with rigid foam. Drywall was reinstalled and covered in Venetian plaster. Custom wine racks were built and installed along with custom mahogany cabinet and hand formed concrete countertops. A small bar style copper sink was installed to aid in rinsing taster's glasses. Custom hand built arches and integral lighting accent the racks and counters. Bottle capacity is 2,100 bottles. | $35k | Bellevue, WA
Burien closet | Jan 2012 | We converted a long closet/storage space into a nice wine cellar. We gutted the space, installed vapor barrier and insulation. We reinstalled the drywall and painted. Custom racks were built and installed per the clients wishes. A Whisperkool cooling system was installed to provide perfect conditions for wine. A cork floor was a nice touch. | $14k | Burien, WA
Yarrow Point Wine Cellar | Jan 2012 | We converted a large underused storage area into a 4,500 bottle wine cellar. The cellar included a hidden door with remote automatic opening, floor to ceiling wine racks with rolling ladder and a commercial ducted cooling system which is virtually noiseless. Racks were built on custom walnut bases with a solid walnut slab counter and a custom arch. Large format bottles rest in hand dovetailed mahogany. Two rows of lighted display highlights the racking. Venetian plaster walls and ceiling provides the finishing touch. | $45k | Yarrow Point, WA
Windermere basement | Jan 2011 | We converted a storage space in the basement of a classic home. The space was quite quirky but after moving some walls, the door and ceiling, we had a nice starting point for a wine cellar. After vapor barrier and insulation, we installed mold resistant drywall finished with Venetian plaster. A commercial grade ducted cooling system keeps the conditions ideal and is almost noise free. The custom built racks included a hand planed wood slab counter which was bookmatch lengthwise and joined with contrasting wood butterflies. Special shelving for large format bottles added up to a bottle capacity of 2,500, nice. A cork floor and custom lighting finished things off. | $32k | Seattle, WA
Clyde Hill | Jan 2010 | We divided a second story game room into a wine cellar. After removing drywall, we sprayed foam insulation and added fiberglass. Drywall again was installed and covered with Venetian plaster. Custom wine racks fill the ample space with enough room for almost 4,000 bottles plus shelving for dozens of large format bottles. Double racks cascade down to a large mahogany counter/desk. Flooring is cork. Custom lighting accents the racks as does integral LED rope lighting. The space is cooled by a commercial grade ducted system which runs almost silently. | $36k | Clyde Hill, WA |
