SMS Maintenance

Extremely disappointed in how this project unfolded for me. For starters, Tony, my primary contact throughout originally suggested the work could be done for about $800. Of course digging into it, the mold had spread more than expected, so the scope increased. While I understand that is a likely scenario, the fact that my final bill was closer to $8000 makes me question his ability to assess and provide an accurate estimate. Be worried that the cost of your project will be potentially much more than you expect. But the final cost is not why I rate Tony and SMS so low. I am upset that they didn't finish the work, yet happily collected the money. My fault for paying them the final balance without inspecting the work. Because this was being done to my rental property, it was another layer coordinating with my tenants to get in the house. But Tony seemed trustworthy enough--I felt he was being straight up with me about the expanded scope and the work needed to fix it, plus he was giving me progress reports along the way. But after telling me the work was done, a few days later I heard from my tenants. "When are they coming back to finish?" Turns out they did not finish: 1) mudding and taping the wall, 2) putting up the baseboard trim, 3) cleaning up the workspace, nor 4) removing debris from the demo which was left in the back yard. After hearing from my tenants, I immediately called Tony. No reply. I sent and e-mail and a text. No reply. About 2 weeks later, after a follow up text, I heard a response from Tony stating that he would make it right, but then I never heard from him again--even after yet another follow up text. I ended up paying another person to finish the drywall work, so the project ultimately cost a lot more than Tony's initial estimate. What really chafes me the most though is that Tony earned my trust, and then cheated me. I hope that by sharing my experience, you will think twice before hiring Tony and SMS Maintenance (also doing business as HMCAN) for your project.

We called and got an immediate response and scheduled the next day. Our Tech showed up on-time and when the job got bigger than we expected he got another Tech in, same day, to help. They were professional and did a great job. Will be using them again!

I would rather give no star than one star. Tony texted and called immediately after I submitted the quote. Besides the phone conversation, there was no confirmation email or text to confirm the appointment as agreed on the phone However, on the service day, they did not show up or contact me so I ended up waiting at home with no service done. I tried to contact multiple numbers provided by Tony but they all went to the voice mail. I left the voicemail but no reply. I submitted another request on porch and funny enough I got a text from Tony that he will contact me ASAP regarding the new request. He never called. In sum, I do not recommend any of you to work with this company and I'm not sure is Tony is his real name.
