Laurelhurst Waterfront Historic Tudor Restoration | Mar 2015 | Blue Sound Construction has performed many remodeling and restoration projects on this aging Tudor home in a charming Laurelhurst waterfront neighborhood. New custom windows requiring the highest craft were installed in the main, curved stairwell space; a new staircase (where one had formerly existed and been removed) renews the connection between the first and lower floors; a new bathroom replete with Brazilian cherry wainscoting and cabinetry, marble and onyx tile, and a new custom leaded glass window graces the second story; a new laundry room tidied up the mechanical area to allow for a workout space in the lower floor (not pictured); a metal grate in the driveway supports the homeowner's electric vehicle's particular needs; a new breakfast nook adds charm and serenity (not yet pictured); and many other updates, such as a leveled story and new railings and masonry have brought the home's old charm to new, improved standards (not yet pictured.) The scope involved in maintaining, restoring, and preserving a historic home requires old world craftsmanship and creativity. Through many projects over many years, the client-team cooperation has been paramount and rewarding. | $450k | Seattle, WA
5th Avenue Apartment Repair and Rebuild | Jul 2014 | Blue Sound Construction conducted the shoring, rebuilding, and recladding necessary to restore this failing apartment structure to structural and building envelope integrity. Blue Sound worked with a team of engineers, building envelope engineers, shoring and cladding subcontractors; our skilled team provided the structural labor and project management necessary to ensure a complete and secure rebuild while maintaining sensitivity to existing retail and residential tenants' needs. | $1.2m | Seattle, WA
Hawthorne Hills Master Bedroom Addition and Whole House Remodel | Jan 2012 | Blue Sound Construction added a master bedroom suite onto the back of this 1950s ranch style home, in addition to performing a major remodel to the kitchen/dining/living room space, defining and remodeling a guest bedroom suite, reworking the existing carport into a garage space, adding porch spaces in front and behind, and modernizing the main elegant entry and stairwell. The end result is a clean, modern and sophisticated home perfectly suited to the homeowners' lifestyle and immanent retirement. Builder: Blue Sound Construction, Inc. Designer: Make Design, Inc. | $350k | Seattle, WA
Greenlake House Lift and First and Second Story Addition | Jan 2012 | Blue Sound Construction lifted this original Sears Roebuck craftsman home 12 feet into the air and built a daylight basement and main floor beneath it, moving the original home to the 2nd story. The new portions included a new kitchen/dining/living space and powder room, some modifications to the existing spaces to add bedrooms on the second story, and a mudroom and basement living space below. Tigerwood floors and custom trimwork added distinctive beauty in keeping with the homes original charm. The homeowner selected many green options, in addition to preserving the original home, eliminating unnecessary waste. This complemented Blue Sound's standard green approach to remodeling. Capitol Hill Mod Hideaway Remodel | Feb 2017 | This 1905 home, located in the heart of Capitol Hill's bustling neighborhood, was the perfect spot for an urban couple, but it lacked a lot of amenities and an organized layout. BSC teamed up with Nicole Taylor of MaKe Design to rework the entire layout into a beautiful home worthy of the homeowners' modern lifestyle. Many custom built-ins keep the home efficient, the new kitchen with walnut cabinetry gives the homeowner, an avid cook, the perfect stage on which to pull off her culinary adventures, the new master bed/bath features a luxurious steam shower and waterfall cement tile from Ann Sacks; the office with built-ins fosters an audiophile's passion. This home was featured in the Master Builder's Association's 2017 Remodeled Homes Tour and received high praise from the over 100 visitors that toured it. | Seattle, WA
Magnolia Whole House Removation | Oct 2016 | Whole house interior remodel: all new kitchen, baths, master bath, reconfiguring of some walls and openings, surfaces updated throughout, 32+ new windows on historic home installed to brick exterior. | Seattle, WA
Edmonds Inn - House Lift and Remodel | Jul 2016 | With an architect-artist duo, we converted a home- turned-law-office into a vacation inn located in the heart of downtown Edmonds. The basement level was too low to accommodate living quarters, so we raised it several feet in the air and built in head-height. This area was then reworked as a laid-back kitchen/ office/ bath and communal living quarters (decked out with a turn table and vintage records.) Upstairs, the entire main floor was reworked to host three all new bedroom/bathroom suites. Attic spaces were reclaimed to add architectural interest. The combination of vintage finds and preserved existing finishes with sculpted architectural space now make this home an enchanting northwest getaway. | Edmonds, WA
Queen Anne Historic Home Remodel | Oct 2010 | This historic home needed gentle reworking to conform it to the homeowners needs. Though three stories tall, the upstairs featured only one bathroom. We reclaimed a bedroom and small office space for a luxurious bathroom suite adjoined to the master bedroom. We refashioned the staircase to the attic floor to match existing mouldings and built a bathroom into the eaves to serve the newly reclaimed guest and teen bedroom relocated there. Finish work throughout required detailed attention to existing historic mouldings. | Seattle, WA |
