Mark Madden Drywall

Mark Madden Drywall resurfaced the interior walls of our neighbor's house and it looked great, so I decided to work with him. His quote was competitive and he seemed professional and always returned calls quickly. We had to move out of our house while they did the work, and each time I came by to check on the work, Mark was absent. His guys had set up shop in an area of our front yard we had recently had landscaped (instead of using the garage, which I gave them full access to), and i discovered they had been mixing drywall on top of all of the plants. The area was covered in drywall mixture and killed some of the plants. The river rocks had turned white as well. During a really intense heat wave, they had also unplugged our refrigerator to use an outlet and never plugged it back in. The stench in the house was overwhelming and the inside of my freezer was covered in mold. Food had oozed out of the bottom of the fridge and leaked onto our hardwood floors. It was overwhelming and no one bothered to clean it up or let me know for over a week. They also removed fixtures and tons of lights and threw them into different boxes, sometimes putting the light cans in one box and the trims in another and the hardware in yet another place. 2 months on, we still haven't found all of the missing hardware. They managed to drip drywall everywhere, even inside of our Comcast cables. They broke a sconce and threw the shards of glass in a bathroom drawer, cracked our doorbell chime box and splattered drywall inside of it, and to top it all off, my walls are not consistently smooth. They literally cut corners on this job, by not smoothing out the space between the door jams and the corners, and there were even large patches of wall that looked bumpier than they did before the job started. When I asked Mark to come back to finish areas, he seemed really angry and went on a rant about how long he's been in this business and that no one has ever complained, etc. etc. He came back to fix his work while I was at work and I honestly think he made it worse on purpose. We have given up and my husband is now sanding the walls and repainting to fix the damage Mark did. I am so disappointed and angry by the quality of the work and the carelessness with which our home was treated. In a small town, reputation is everything. Mark Madden needs to stoop resting on his laurels and wake up.
