As a teenager he began to learn the trade of plumbing from his uncle during summers in Idaho. Plumbing, as one might say, runs in his blood-his father and two uncles were also plumbers.A graduate of Utah Technical College and former apprentice for Local No. 19 Plumbers and Steamfitters, Rick went on to earn his journeyman's license and worked on a number of high rise buildings in downtown Salt Lake City before also working as a pipe fitter on a rural power plant in Delta, Utah and a water plant in Herriman, Utah.
