All I can say is: OMG!!! BUYER BEWARE!! DO NOT USE UNIVERSAL WALL BUILDERS, LLC for any of your construction needs!! I have had THE WORST experience ever! I had hoped to resolve the issues amicably with the owner, Nicole Miller, however, she has bullied me for two months into doing things on MY project to cover her inadequacies on the project and now refuses to refund the monies she was paid! I have decided to finish the job with another contractor because she agreed that the contractor could do all of the work I had contracted for her to do. Apparently, she did not have enough people to complete my job. She did not finish the job and now claims because of unseen issues with the flooring, it delayed the project. Because of her constant lies about the delays in the project, and her constant excuses and blaming of others for her not being on schedule, I decided to terminate the contract. She contracted to complete my kitchen and my upstairs bathroom within 60 days. We signed the agreement on May 26, 2021, and as of July 20th, the cabinets had not been installed, no flooring was started, and she hadn't even begun to do anything in the upstairs bathroom. After asking me for additional monies, that she was not due, Nicole indicated she would have the floors completed in the kitchen; however, only 4 of the upper cabinets had been installed and only one floor cabinet. She originally told me the floor was the last thing to get done, but because she was running out of time and I refused to give her any additional monies, she decided to schedule the flooring anyway. After I submitted my request to rescind the contract and get my monies back that she clearly did not spend since no work was completed, she refused to give me a Bill of Particulars or provide receipts, although I requested it. Small claims court, here we come!!! What a mess! Ugh!!

TLDR: The worst experience I have ever had with a business before, would not recommend these services to anyone. more info below: Part 1: Insanely long project To start this story, I would like to say I heard of Universal Wall Builders through a close friend who hadn't worked with the company yet. At first, they were very professional and detailed oriented with the quoting process however everything after this point was horrible. I requested that both of my bathrooms be retiled and to have new bathroom doors installed (I did the demo myself). I was quoted for 7-10 days; however, the actual project timeline was as follows: Demo completed on 3/20; retiling work started on 4/5; 90% complete on 4/23; project finished (after legal action was threatened) on 6/11. I was unable to shower in my home during this entire timeline and had to travel to a friend’s house in another city to shower. During the project, I was repeatedly told there would be contractors at my home only to have no one show up (this happened on at least 20 days during the project). I would frequently have to follow-up only to be told they would be there the next day. Again, they never showed up. Eventually I got tired of this and told the contractor I want the project completed or I would be taking additional action in small claims court. Part 2: Unfinished work If you decide to work with universal wall builders after reading this, you should expect to be charged additional amounts outside of the original quote for work that was not considered at the time of quoting. I personally find this to be extremely unprofessional and a horrible way to run your business. The customer should not pay for mistakes made by their contractor. In terms of specifics, there were 3 major mistakes made during my install which required the cement backing wall to be removed and then re-added. Each of these times were not due to any change request I made but instead mistakes made by the contractor. I was asked to pay for these mistakes but only paid for 1. Additionally, my ceilings have red waterproofing paint and cement on them and there are drywall nails exposed on adjacent walls to the retiling. When I asked the contractor if she planned to fix my ceilings/walls I was told this wasn't part of the quote, but she'd be happy to quote me for it. I said no because I didn't have red paint, exposed nails or cement on any of these surfaces before the work. The contractor made this mess they should clean it up, it’s not additional work. Finally, my house was left in complete disarray. There were tools, buckets full of water/cement, dirt, excess materials and cardboard paper left all over my house. I had to clean all this up myself. Part 3: Quality of the work Honestly, the quality of the work is a 3/4 out of 10. The design I came up with looks really good so if you glance at my bathroom, it looks nice. However, when you get inside the showers it’s a different story. there are many places where the tiling isn't straight, there is excess grout in every corner, there are tilling pieces sticking out of my shower niches, and the grout lines are uneven. This is way below the standard I would expect from a professional contractor. It feels to me like no pride was taken in the work completed. Part 4: Recommendation All in all, I wouldn't recommend this contractor to anyone. I think the worst part of this entire experience is not at a single time did the contractor recognize that I was displaced from my home, and they never took responsibility for their mistakes. I would've expected more from a business owner, if you make a mistake all you need to do is take responsibility and fix it. but instead, I was asked if I wanted to pay more money for their mistake, go bother someone else with that nonsense.

Nicole and Cherri did an amazing job transforming my jungle of a backyard into an amazing oasis. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the level of detail they pour into my backyard. I don't think I'm ever leaving home. I received so much more than I expected. I'm already thinking about what I'm going to have them do for my next project!!
