Don't let them into your home!!! I spent $4k for them to trash my home. Quality is terrible. Manager is immature and looking to bilk the client for every dollar. If you get entangled with them, don't pay them a cent of the other half of your deposit, because you'll NEVER get them back in to fix any of their garbage work. THEY STOLE MY LADDER and I had to call the COPS to get it back!!! Chris: The manager comes off as friendly and approachable, but his downfall is that he always sides with his guys. He utterly wants them to like him, and cuts them slack everytime. He has been doing this a long time and no longer cares about being the best. He wants to knock a job out, squeeze as much cash out of the homeowner to butter up his employees, and move on to the next one. Any complaints about the shoddy, amateur work and it's the homeowner's fault for wanting "high end" or being "too particular" or adding too many things to the bid. There was never a breath of skepticism about getting my house done by my deadline. I was constantly reassured that the painter they assigned me was the best guy they had at mudding, that they would get it done in time, that they could throw guys at it immediately, and that were licensed, bonded, insured, and franchised--in other words, the best. They tout themselves as a step above the average company that you would hire off of any site. They answer your service request in minutes and bring a special folder with their name on it filled with a list of services they offer. They even have a printout of their ZERO complaints from BBB. (When if it was up-to-date they would have 3 complaints listed in the last 12 mos.) They brag about the quality of their paint and how everything is under a 2 year guarantee. They tell you about their policy that their painters get a bonus when they get a 5 star Google review, and you think, "Amazing! Quality capitalism at its best." But the quality of the work was terrible. Just terrible. There wasn't a single thing they did well. My "Guy"--Boris---: Lazy, amateur. Late. No communication. No training. Took naps in his car in front of my house. When I texted the boss, he lied and said he was waiting for his patches to dry---when nothing had even been patched. Couldn't be bothered to use a ladder, stood on a 5-gal bucket of paint instead. Didn't have a dustpan, so used 12" taping knife. When I offered my dustpan, he accepted and ended up taking it.. Stole my checkbook from my kitchen and put in it the box of my outlets that he kept in his car. Lied about his "wife" getting bit by a "giant dog" to run out on the job on the 4th of July--he left the job for the rest of the day and turned off his phone. I'm pretty sure he isn't married as he was talking about flirting with girls one of the days. Worst mudding job ever. Smeared 5 minute mud all over large holes with no support like mesh/tape/patches. Cut out brown paper to make a jagged gash in my walls to remud instead of sealing them with a sealer like I asked, even when I offered my own can of the stuff. This technique is bad for the integrity of the dry wall. Every patch from his spraycan had large bubbles. He didn't know the names of different wall textures (orange peel vs. knockdown). He had to use MY spray texture for the walls and used it badly. He also took this can home. Always had a story for why he was late--such as being held up at the HD Pro Desk for 2 hours. He always promised to make up for it by coming very early (6-7am) the next day, never did. He would come around 9:30-10:30, once he came after 12pm, took a nap in his car from 3-4pm and was gone by 6pm . Took days and days to tape down paper. Oh yeah, HE STOLE MY $200 LITTLE GIANT LADDER and I had to call the police to get it back. Work Done: -Only wall that was painted has gaps near the baseboard, and is peeling back. Flashing is very visible from poorly primed and patched wall. Texture differences are very visible. Oversprayed blue paint on ceilings, baseboards, which were to be painted white--not a deal-killer but low-quality approach. Spraypainted into electrical outlets. -Damage to door and door casing when installing trim to the doors. -Cut baseboards too short, filled in with heavy caulking, at least 1/4" of caulking. -Cut door trim too short, it hangs 1/2" off the ground -New outlet was never installed all the way. It is just a hole with a wire sticking out. When asked to come finish it--as it was paid for. I was told it "wasn't paid for." -6 out of 8 door "sides" were painted, none were rehung. When I asked him to rehang--he wanted to charge me $500. -Handrail painted, never rehung. -Large holes were patched with no supports such as drywall plugs, mesh patches, tape or anything else. -Texture for the walls with a spray can, heavily applied with many air bubbles. Many patches were never retextured at all. -Several dings and nail holes were never PATCHED at all. I was told nail holes were "pin holes" and not covered by their patching policy. -Knockdown texture one ceiling was sloppy and not blended into existing texture. -Texture sprayed onto baseboards in at least 2 places -Door casing used with a split in it. Work Done: -Only wall that was painted has missed spots of white near the baseboard, and was PEELING back the next day. Flashing is very visible from poorly primed and patched wall. Texture differences are very visible. They oversprayed blue paint onto the ceiling and baseboards, which were to be painted white--not a deal-killer but what a low-quality approach. Why spray anything blue that has to be sprayed white? They also spray painted into electrical outlets (so tacky). This was my feature accent wall that I paid an extra $200 to get painted blue. It looks awful. I hate looking at it. -I have damage to one of my doors and inside the door casing from where they shot staples through them when installing trim to the doorways. They cut my baseboards too short, filled in with heavy caulking, at least 1/4" of caulking. Looks awful. -They cut door trim too short, one section hangs 1/2" off the ground. I can stick my finger under it. I paid $1250 for these door casings, and even had 5-6 planks of my own wood to start the job. That's higher than average and it they look so bad. -The new outlet was never installed all the way. I paid $320 and it is just a hole with a wire sticking out. When asked to come finish it--as it was paid for. I was told it "wasn't paid for." -6 out of 8 door "sides" were painted, my exterior doors were never touched. The paint job had drips. NONE of the doors were rehung. When I asked him to rehang--he wanted to charge me $500. He billed me for the doors. I paid for them. Don't know how he priced out the partial work, but it was expensive!! -Handrail painted, never rehung. (Wanted more money to come back and hang them.) -Large holes were patched with no supports such as drywall plugs, mesh patches, tape or anything else. -Texture for the walls was with a spray can, heavily applied with many air bubbles. Many patches, dime-sized and larger were never retextured at all. -Several dings, screw holes and nail holes were never PATCHED at all. I was told nail holes were "pin holes" and not covered by their patching policy. -Knockdown texture one ceiling was sloppy and not blended into existing texture. Looks terrible. -Wall texture was sprayed onto baseboards in at least 2 places. -Door casing used with a split in it. Didn't bother them at all.

I was very pleased with the finished painting job performed by 5 Star painting.

We had repair work after a flood in our basement, and decided to include in the project painting the remainder of our basement and some rooms on the main floor. Brandon was exceptional. The quality of his painting work is very high. He was neat and careful. We went through the rooms together, and my wife and I could only find one or two small places (Brandon pointed out one) which needed a touch up. He was timely. He was pleasant to work with. I highly recommend him.
