Larry Ryan started Ryan Lawn & Tree in 1987. From day one, Larry's goal has been to set the standard in customer service among lawn care companies. Larry has a degree in forestry, but it was the 10 years he spent in the restaurant business that taught him to deliver high quality products and hire a staff that truly puts the customer first. Ryan partners with our customers to maintain their lawns, trees, shrubs and irrigation systems with high quality service at an affordable price.

So... where to begin? Maybe Ryan Lawn & Tree of Springfield, MO is good at trimming trees and spreading fertilizer. However, when it comes to more challenging hardscaping projects, we believe they are in way over their heads and are simply awful. Hardscaping projects are expensive and quality work is critical. We do NOT recommend that you hire Ryan Lawn & Tree of Springfield, MO. We hired Ryan Lawn & Tree in February of 2021 to put in a stone patio, pergola and gas fireplace. The project also included moving a storage shed and putting in a new fence. In order to complete these projects, they also were required to demo the old patio, tear down a fence and trim 2 trees. In February, we paid Ryan Lawn & Tree a deposit of 20% on the total cost of our project. The remaining balance was due at the completion of the project. Ryan (no relation to the company founder) our salesperson insured us that our project would start the first week in April and be completed in no more than 3 or 4 weeks (weather permitting). Finally, by late March - after no one at the company had contacted us about any kind of pre-project preparations - we called and requested to speak to someone in charge. Although we had received multiple assurances from Ryan that our project would start the first week in April, we were getting a feeling that something was a little off. Tony from Ryan Lawn & Tree called us back and said that our project was in fact NOT going to start the first week in April. He said they were having problems getting our fireplace and our project actually would not start until early May. Once they finally did get started in May, the project was scheduled to be completed in 3 to 4 weeks (i.e. by Memorial Day). They seemed to start strong and then - very quickly - their "crew" solely consisted of either Tony or maybe Tony and 1 other person being on-site each day to complete our project (also, they only work 4 days / week). Around the 3rd week in May our fireplace was scheduled to be installed on a Thursday. When we got home that Thursday, they were already gone for their 3-day weekend and our fireplace was not finished. We never heard from anyone at Ryan Lawn & Tree until we called them the following Tuesday to see what happened and to see when it would be completed. Then Tony "dropped the bomb" on us. He said they had ordered the wrong fireplace insert (not sure if this is true or not) and they had to order another insert to be delivered at a later date. They would not be completing the fireplace until the new insert was delivered for us. Over the course of the next 3 months our project was never completed and has not been completed to this date. They prioritized other new projects over completing our project. They tore the back off our house and have not replaced the gutters. They installed an electrical outlet on our pergola that resulted in a separate electrical outlet on the back of our home not working. They never installed the gas line for our fireplace. They improperly installed a fan in our pergola resulting in it not functioning. They laid electrical wiring and coaxial cabling for our outside tv that was not waterproof.... and, of course, they never completed the installation of our fireplace. I talked with Tony on multiple occasions regarding our concerns. He told me that he had just been hired by Ryan Lawn & Tree in January of 2021 to help build their hardscaping business. He said the company had very limited hardscaping experience, he said our salesperson Ryan was brand new to his job and that Ryan Lawn & Tree in Springfield had virtually no seasoned, experienced "tradesmen" on staff. Over and over again the staff (i.e. Chris, Tony & Ryan) at Ryan Lawn & Tree have been disingenuous in their communications with us. They have blamed everyone else for their failures. They blamed each other and low staffing. They blamed the electrician and the plumber. They blamed the fireplace company, Covid and the weather. We would NOT recommend that you use Ryan Lawn & Tree for your hardscaping needs.
