We had a flooring project for Leonel to do he came to the house give us a price and took a $2000 deposit he wanted more. He never showed up to do the job will not return phone calls or text messages and his kept a $2000 deposit. I told him by way of text message if he couldn’t do the job to just give us the $2000 back we have not heard from him. That to me is outright fraud just going around collecting deposits and never doing the work I would steer clear of him he’s bad news In my opinion.

Leo is the most unprofessional, underachieving, overpromising individual we've ever done business with, and becomes unresponsive when he messes things up. He comes off nice, but his actions literally disgust me, and makes me lose hope in people and never wanting to trust anyone again. We hired him for a job to install a backsplash in our kitchen, which is definitely NOT his specialty. Things started off wrong when he said he would show up on Saturday at 8am to begin the project. My wife called at 7:50am for an ETA (because most professionals call when they are on their way) and he responded back saying he would be here between 9-10am. He didn't show until roughly 10:45am. Might I also mention that this review is being written during the COVID-19 pandemic, and out all of the technicians, plumbers, and electricians we had in our house, he is the only one to arrive without wearing a mask. Then when he came he made a short shopping list of items for us to get from Home Depot, which looking back on it now it doesn't make sense why a true professional contractor wouldn't have items such as a paint brush and other basic things for a job like this. He asked us to purchase a drywall board, retexture spray can, paint brush, and ceramic tile edge finishing piece. He later determined he did not need these items which we had to return, this was waste of time. Throughout the day we gave him water and Gatorade and were basically the most patient and friendly customers anyone could hope to do business with despite his inconveniences, but then things really got bad. When he announced the job was complete, he did a minor cleanup but left concrete/grout on the floor, countertops, stove, refrigerator, tile floor and backsplash. Had me and my wife not cleaned it up quickly, it would've hardened and ruined everything in our kitchen. He failed to lay the proper plastic covering to protect our appliances and countertops. After cleaning up behind him, we asked who do we make the check out to, or can we just pay with a card? He stated he only takes cash... What kind of lame business only excepts cash?? Especially when it involves $700 transactions, what a joke!!! Me and my wife had to drive to an ATM while he followed to get the cash, and after all this nonsense we still tipped him. Well prior to leaving to get the cash, Leo didn't put the face plates over the electrical sockets stating the backsplash needed to dry before fitting them. He said he would gladly return with the proper extenders and long screws to reinstall them. It wasn't until the next morning when my wife realized how screwed up the job really was. Leo did not measure the spacing around the kitchen outlets correctly and installed backsplash over the surrounding areas of the sockets. Not only could we not put the face plates back on, but he overdid the tile so much that the sockets were left dangling from the wall because the backsplash blocked the sockets from fitting back into their original holes. We contact Leo and asked him if he would return and repair the outlet issue. We went to a hardware store to attempt to fix the outlet issue ourself. Leo told us “do not buy anything I will fix everything for you.” Something didn’t feel right so we asked the hardware store for help and purchased the items we needed, when we got home we determined an electrician would need to repair the issue. We asked Leo repeatedly when would he come back to fix it, he scheduled a few times and he was a no call no show. We restructured our work schedules multiple times to be available for him and he just lied and never showed up. He repeatedly stated he would show up, but never did. The most insulting part is he said he would show up, but he would need gas money $25-30. After a few days we flat out asked him on Thursday, "Are you honestly even considering showing up to fix this" because we were so stressed and frustrated and just wanted an honest answer. He promised he would show up the following Monday and not to worry. Monday came and went, no call no show. Well it's now Thursday (12 days later) he hasn't bothered to reach out to us. We stopped calling and texting him and contacted an electrical company to come in, the electrician was very professional and cleaned up Leo's mess. We were informed by the electrically company that covering the outlet sockets with grout was not how a professional should have installed the backsplash. This could have been avoid if Leo simply a used a $6.00 roll of painter’s tape to cover the outlet sockets during the install. I'm not one too write negative reviews or call names, but Leo is a scumbag.
