This letter is to relay an experience that I had with District Flooring and Restoration. I hope to prevent other people from experiencing the hardship that we endured with this company. Will Lifsey came to our home and was one of several bids. He advised that he would be able to sand our floors and match the new floors in the new construction area. On the day of installation, after floors had been pulled up to be woven in with the new floors, he came to me and my contractor and indicated that all floors were too worn and would have to be replaced. After quite a shock and significant expense, we agreed to replace all floors as he advised. We asked him at the time if it was okay to install the floors prior to work being completed by multiple contractors in the house. He and my contractor advised that this was done all the time. He would cover the floors and at the time of sanding any scratches or imperfections would be removed. We agreed to go ahead and install and when it came time to sand and finish the floors in early October, The house had had several leaks. Will came in and advised that the floors were too far gone and $8,000 worth of hardwood would have to be ripped up and re-installed. My contractor agreed to pay for the wood and rip up the floors. He did so and Will purchased and brought the new wood to our home to acclimate in the living room. Will was well aware that we were ready to move into the home at that time and this was a major setback. He told us that the floors needed to dry for 2 to 3 weeks before he could reinstall. After the 2 to 3 weeks, on the day that the floors were supposed to be reinstalled, Will showed up and advised that his installers indicated that all the floors in the entire downstairs now needed to be ripped up and that he was not sure when he could reinstall them. He said that the floors had shifted and they would no longer be able to be used. When I asked him to give me a date of installation if my contractor ripped up the floors he said he couldn't say. Later that afternoon he contacted my contractor and told him that he would not do the job even if the floors were ripped up. He did this after he looked me in the eye that morning and said he would take care of us. District flooring left us with $8,000 of wood sitting in our family room and no one to install it. Bast Hardwood Floors came in and saved the day for us. They told us that by no means did the floors downstairs need to be ripped up and that they would take over the job. They have and the floors are beautiful. I would advise anyone who plans to use District Flooring in the future to think twice and find another floor company.
