Beware of these scammers! This Mighty Joe's Construction offered to do my parents' blacktop driveway at $350 cheaper than Americoat and Buckeye Asphalt. After a cold winter in Ohio especially after the two snow storms, and merely 7 months later, my parents' driveway is full of cracks and potholes. They used a cheapest grade asphalt (which would be used to prepare the base, I-2) to pave the driveway. After two snow storms in Central Ohio, the large-size gravel/stones are rubbed off leaving potholes (2-3 inch diameters) all over. Moreover, the driveway surface is like shakes and waves which water is accumulated in puddles and is frozen and which would make shoveling impossible. Three other houses in the neighborhood used the same scammers, Mighty Joe's Construction, and now their driveways are damaged in similar ways. We and our neighbors have called Mighty Joe's Construction to come back for repairs because they stated that the work comes with one year warranty. They have been unresponsive! These guys from Mighty Joe's Construction are scammers.

This Mighty Joe's Construction company is a fraud. After we signed a contract with these guys to have our driveway paved with asphalt, they showed up and did shoddy work on the paving without squaring out the edges and left mess on our lawn and street. We had to clean up their mess. Couple days later the rain accumulated so much water. Only then it was so obvious that the driveway surface was not even and there were depressions throughout the driveway, especially in the middle of the driveway. We realized that the company tried to cut back the amount of asphalt material with depressions. We tried to contact them last Fall but they showed up and talked their way out of repairing the driveway; and they even insulted us and threaten us lawsuit on harassment. After, two to three snow storms in January and February in Central Ohio, our driveway are filled of cracks and holes because the stones/pellets have been rubbed off due to cars tires rolling in and out of the driveway. We have wasted over $3,000 on the double-car driveway, which would not last more than 10 months. This company is a fraud and they would swindle your money in exchange for shoddy work: having their friends did good reviews on Facebook, BBB, Homeowner, and Google but their work is trashy. You certainly would get your money worth if you sign a contract with a well established and reputable company in your local area. When we checked the internet last Fall, this Mighty Joe's Construction has moved through dozen of cities to rob people.

In short: STAY AWAY FROM MIGHTY JOE'S CONSTRUCTION (MJC) SCAM! This father-son family owned business has moved from state to state, city to city for many years in order to prey upon new clients: from AR to TX to FL, TN to MI and NJ, and now in central Ohio. HomeAdvisor recommended MJC to me for asphalt driveway resurface. After a contract was agreed upon for a 3" Asphalt job for a double-garage driveway. MJC botched the whole project by starting with 3" at my garage concrete end but dropped down to less than 2" after a foot till the sidewalk. MJC used cheap and coarse asphalt, cut down the material and made the surface wavy (no less than 20 spots measured by a 4-footer level leaving 1.0-1.5 cm gaps), damaged the City's newly resurfaced streets with their machines’ metal tracks, spilled over and damaged the sidewalk, chipped off my neighbor’s side–curb, did not taper the edges, did not clean up, and even knocked out my garage brick column. I requested that they come back to resurface my driveway and restore my garage’s brick column back to its original condition/form. They refused, talked their way out of their responsibility, and even shifted the blame on me saying that I am ignorant in paving business. They refused to present their license/permit (I had to dig up their USDOT on the web in order to file a complaint with the City of Columbus Ohio and Ohio Attorney General), insurance paper, and their local business address. I had to file a complaint with the City of Columbus 311 in Ohio. The City’s investigators gave MJC 10 days to correct their shoddy job on the driveway and repair the damages on the streets’ surface caused by their metal tracks (which they were not supposed to use metal tracks on the City’s streets). When they came back to resurface my driveway, again used the cheapest and coarsest grading asphalt, did not taper the edges, did not clean up the street, and refused to restore my garage brick column back to its original condition. In addition, the City’s investigator had to supervise and instruct the father and son, MJC, on what and when to do step–by–step. The brick column damage is on its way to the office of Ohio Attorney General. The brick column at my garage was not restored correctly with the clamps in the back that attached to the wall. MJC hired a $300 unlicensed hacker, a landscaper, for a job that would cost $1,000 to patch three broken bricks on a whole column of 120 bricks and then pushed the column back against the wall without securing by clamps. If anyone in Central Ohio has been scammed by MJC, please file your complaint with the City of Columbus 311 in Ohio and the Ohio Attorney General. Their truck’s License plate is Ohio PMJ–4120 and USDOT No. 1880946. If you want to take your chance with MJC, make sure you have $5K setting aside for court litigation.

They sealed cracks and asphalt driveway. They did a great job. A couple of the cracks they sealed opened up. They returned and not only resealed them at no charge, they filled new ones that had opened and did not charge for the work. I would highly recommend them.
