Currently Im having difficulty with my old thermostat and its control of our central heating unit. Sometimes the heater locks into the fan on state where its blowing cold air and the only way I can get the fan to turn off is to turn off the circuit breaker controlling the heater (Lennox). The thermostat is an old Honeywell programmable device (RTH7500D1007) with up to two cycles of on/off and the problem occurs when the thermostat transitions from the high to the lower temperature range and while the heater is delivering heat. I think that the furnace shuts down the furnace heat but not the fan. The fan continues to blow cold air until I turn the circuit breaker to the off state...
