Summit Electrical Solutions

My wife and I remodeled and put an addition on our home in Tahoe Donner in Truckee, CA. We have built four homes now in Truckee and never written an online complaint or poor review about any contractor until now. Recently we hired Jake Somervell, owner of Summit Electrical Solutions, to do all of our electrical work on our current home remodel and addition. He was difficult to work with from the beginning as he never would comitt to a schedule and would show up randomly whenever it worked with his schedule. He also would make messes around our home, including in our kids bedrooms and would never give us a heads up so we could cover things nor would he clean up his messes. He would just leave his trash around our home for us to pick up. At his recommendation we purchased upgraded smaller halogen ceiling can lights which he installed. About 20% of them were faulty and never worked correctly. One in our laundry room ceiling started smoking one evening and melted the wires in the housing but luckily we were home or it would have likely started a house fire! Most of these lights still do not work today, almost 2 years later after being installed. Jake has refused to come and fix them. I have been patient and asked repeatedly over the last 2 years for him to come fix them or agree to pay my new electrician to do it for him in case he was to busy. He will not answer his phone, return emails, or respond to Facebook messages so unfortunately, I'm left with filing complaints and warning others about his sub-par work and service. I waited patiently for 2 years before taking this step. Contractors like Jake unfortunately have been able to stay in business due to the sheer volume of building demand in our area but that doesn't make his treatment of customers like us okay. Someday, it will catch up with him. Don't hire Summit Electrical Solutions!
