Lane Contractors

Lane contractors was recommended by a friend of our future son-in-law, who also did some work at our house. Dan Lane, of Lane Contractors came in the fall of 2020 to assess front yard, front walkway, and back yard designs. Our daughter was getting married in May of 2021 so we wanted to spruce up the outside of our home. Dan was very personable, came when he said he was going to come, and provided great ideas for these projects. He gave us a fair price as we had other contractors come for comparisons. We jointly decided to begin in the front yard by just planting shrubs. They planted the shrubs and I questioned Dan about the deer eating the shrubs, as we have them in abundance. He assured me that the plants were deer resistant. Well that winter of 2020, the deer did ravish most of the shrubs. When Dan came back in the Spring of 2021, he could not believe how the deer ate the new shrubs. He did make good on the shrubs and replanted new ones that were destroyed. He was scheduled to come back in the spring of 2021 to complete the front steps, walkway, put down sod and replenish the deer damaged shrubs. This was done in a timely manner in time for our daughter’s May wedding. When the work was being completed Dan and his brother were not always there. The workers who were completing the job spoke minimal English. When there were problems, the workers would have to call the brothers. There were some issues with how the block was being laid but were resolved when Dan came to view the job. The job was completed to our specifications and we were very pleased with how beautiful our front yard, lawn, and walkway looked. Payments were always made as agreed to by our written contract. After completion of front yard and final payment made, we told Dan we would complete the backyard either in the fall of 2021 or early Spring 2022. We called Dan in April 2022. He gave us a date he would come back to review the scope and cost of backyard project. We expected him to come when he said he would, as he always did on the previous job. He never showed. He never called to say why he did not show up. After numerous phone calls and emails, we gave up. We were very disappointed in how Lane Contractors handled communication for second project. If they had too much work or could not complete the project, just tell us. What is wrong with proper business practice? Be professional. Communicate. Responses, either written or verbal should be given, especially when they had been so responsible with their first project. Is Lane Contractors like those one hit wonders? One and done. Seems to be so. Very poor business practice.

Lane just completed a landscaping project in our Stonebridge complex. The display of plantings is very attractive. They did a great job on the site and it looks very professional . JuneFM
