I would like to tell you a little bit about my background so if you or someone you know is looking for a realtor you will feel comfortable giving me a call or passing my information on to a friend. I got the real estate bug early in life as my father was an architect and developer and my mom worked as his sales agent. I spent many hours cleaning newly built homes, setting and taking appointments and later helping stage model homes. I don't know if any of you remember how the MLS used to print all listings in a giant phone book before computers, but I used to have to carry those to school and distribute to various parents in the carpool line who worked at the family firm. Out of college at Tulane, I decided to go a different route and became a CPA. While I love the foundation it gave me in business and finance I knew life behind a desk was not for me long term. I was fortunate to be able to go back to school with my husband to Georgetown University where we both earned our MBA's. After that, I worked as a management consultant in Manhattan helping companies with marketing and technology strategy. After having my two children I knew the jetset life of a consultant would not fly with motherhood and as I searched my soul for my next career I knew it had to be back to my roots and my true passion of real estate. I became an agent in 2002 and was fortunate to work for a wonderful family-owned firm in CT where I became top selling agent before moving here to MN in 2006. Here I was once again fortunate to find a wonderful family-owned firm, and believe me, because I interviewed with many companies, there really is not another place like Roger Fazendin Realtors. Andy Fazendin, our company's broker, continues to build upon the values established by his father and grandfather for the last 48 years. Andy was recently sworn in as president of the Minneapolis Association of Realtors. It is unusual for a smaller firm to have such a large presence in the marketplace. And we live up to our characterization of being a small firm with the loudest voice! When I started with Fazendin, I eased into the local market by becoming the relocation director. Through that position I honed my negotiation skills (boy are corporations tough negotiators!) and I learned the twin cities market from Ham Lake to White Bear Lake to Big Lake! Last year, I was really missing the personal interaction with buyers and sellers and decided to make a change, away from my desk job, to work again as an agent. Every day, I love my work and am so excited to discover the challenges each new client brings. This second time around as an agent I believe I am more balanced and have an amazing technological arsenal behind my efforts. I am not looking to compete to sell the highest volume of homes in the area, because I know from experience that when an agent is that busy, she cannot devote the time necessary for each client. I choose to work with friends and referrals, fully understanding their goals and customizing an approach for each and every client. At this stage in my life, the relationships I am able to build with clients are just as important as any compensation I receive.
