Jan 2011

- Temple of Israel SDI Construction, Inc., completed a detailed 15-month restoration of the historic Temple of Israel in downtown Wilmington. Constructed in 1875, the Temple was the first synagogue in North Carolina and is a striking example of the Moorish Revival architectural style. Leavitt Home

Nov 2003

Leavitt Home SDI Construction, Inc. Design/Build On the front of the home the existing straight walkway and single gable needed to be updated. A second gable was added to bring roofline interest and greater strength to the upper section of the house. A curved brick walkway with replenished landscaping created enhanced curb appeal. The existing back of the home had a small stoop and no gathering place. An addition was made to the back including a new kitchen, a large eating area, and a columned back porch creating a gracious living atmosphere for family gathering and entertaining. The whole house remodel included work done in all bedrooms; enlarging the master suite, creating a new bathroom and providing greater closet space in other bedrooms.

Sherman Home

Jun 2000

Sherman Home Designed by Architect Charles Woodall This existing L-shaped ranch on the Intercostal Waterway was renovated to become a Japanese style home. Since the family had spent years in Japan they wanted a home styled in keeping with their Japanese collection and the feel of the orient. SDI Construction, Inc. worked with their architect to create an economical yet exciting plan. One of the features was removing all windows in the first floor rooms and installing sliding glass doors; then building a covered walk around the home opening a view of their Japanese gardens. The architect designed a beautiful covered entrance including custom made handrails beside the steps leading down to a stone embedded concrete walkway.
