I have never had a more appalling customer service experience. I hired Charlie Grifasi of Concrete Innovations to build and install concrete countertops in the kitchen of my office two years ago. After the install, I noticed that he didn't affix the dishwasher to the counter, which caused the dishwasher to fall forward whenever it was being loaded. It took several months of calling Charlie, scheduling, repeated cancellations (on his part), and rescheduling to finally get him to come out and take care of it. Six months later, I bought a house that had recently been renovated and had concrete counters installed in the kitchen. The dishwasher had not been affixed to the counter. I contacted the former homeowners and sure enough, the counters were installed by Charlie Grifasi. This time, it took almost a year of calling Charlie, scheduling, cancellations and rescheduling to finally get him to come to my house and take care of it. Two weeks ago, while doing dishes after dinner, my under-mounted kitchen sink suddenly fell and detached from the concrete counter (I'll spare the details of the mess that ensued and the dishes that were broken as a result of the fall). I contacted Charlie first-thing the next morning and left a voicemail asking that he contact me at his soonest convenience--this rendered my kitchen sink essentially unusable. Charlie occasionally has texted me in the past, so I texted him to make sure he got my message and sent him a photo of the sink. No response. One week later, and a few more calls to Charlie, still no response. I contacted a friend in the custom kitchen business and another who works in concrete. Both suggested that I would have a tough time finding somebody else to take care of the repair, as they wouldn't want to "inherit the problem". Both advised that the original installer should fix this. Ten days later, still no word from Charlie. Finally, today, Charlie texts me. Our exchange as follows: Charlie: I am sorry for not getting back to you sooner I have been working out of town and we are extremely busy if you can't find anybody to fix it for you I will try to get out to you the middle of next week I should be able to call you Tuesday. Me: Hi Charlie - I understand that you're busy but I am without a sink. It is ridiculous that it has taken this long for you to get back to me and I can't find anyone else who is willing to fix this. I need to know that you're going to have this fixed no later than early next week. Thank you. Charlie: I will do the best I can but please remember I am doing this as a courtesy I have no obligation. I guess this means that Charlie doesn't have much confidence in his work and therefor does not stand behind it. Any repair to his work should be considered a courtesy, and should somehow justify not acknowledging a customer for more than 10 days. I would never recommend Concrete Innovations to anybody.
