If you do want the curtains to puddle, measure from the bottom of the drapery rings to the floor and add 3” to 6” to that length.

If you don’t want the curtains to puddle, the general rule is that the curtain fabric should just touch the floor, or land about an inch above the floor. This style works well if you have café curtains which only cover the lower half of the window. Café curtains work best in places where you cannot have longer curtains.

The words “drapes” and “curtains” tend to be used interchangeably. However, curtains are usually crafted of lighter fabrics than drapes. Drapes are often lined, and heavier than curtains.
