This company has the worst customer service I have experienced. They are suppose to provide internet service but cannot resolve an issue for over a week.

I am a resident in a community with OpticalTel. Please note that if your community is looking to a fiber optics company, do NOT under any circumstances choose OpticalTel. This company has many outages at all hours of the day and night. They are totally unreliable. To get the contract, they will make promises that they are unable to uphold. They say there is a third party that kicks in when they go down. Lies. Not true. If you call during an outage, you will be put in a queue. If you are lucky, someone might pick up without disconnecting you first and making you call back and start your wait all over again. Many times when I have called (and I do mean MANY times because they are down a lot), I have ended up with someone from the “overflow” call line and those people have no idea what they are doing or what is happening. We have had OpticalTel for about a year. The first 4 months we were down more than we were up. They improved for a while after our community contacted a lawyer. Things were ok for about 6 months. These last 2 months they have reverted back to their old ways. They are constantly having an outage. When OpticalTel has an outage, you lose cable, internet and phone. You are completely separated from any type of communication. If an older person lives alone and has OpticalTel phone service, all 911 communication is down. You do not want to ever be done from 911. OpticalTel’s response, they have someone on site working on it. There is never someone on site. Again, lies. No truth. Choose any company besides OpticalTel for your needs. If you choose OpticalTel, prepare for constant outages and many headaches. If you choose OpticalTel, you will be highly disappointed. Here is a record of just the last week with this company. No exaggeration on these numbers. Down Saturday, December 19 for 6.5 hours - starting at approximately 8:45AM Down Sunday, December 20 for 30 minutes Down Monday, December 21 for 20 minutes Down Friday, December 25 for 15 minutes Down Saturday, December 26 for 7 hours - starting at approximately 5:00PM Down Sunday, December 27 for 10.75 hours - starting at midnight, making this outage 17.75 hours Totally unacceptable.
