We agree with all the other reviews. Just like all the other reviews on here and other message boards, Curtis is not upright in his business practices. BEWARE. He told us is name was Curtis Stafin and it is Curtis Saffian. See this article just in case you need more clarification click this link. https://curtissaffian.wordpress.com/ He also does business as Carolina Timeless Woodworking on PORCH. PORCH was notified and still allows him to work for them. It is their responsibility too.

Run, do not walk, away from this zero-star contractor, who Porch would get rid of if they had any integrity. Like many others, Curtis Saffian suckered me into a huge deposit (50%). He said our shed roof would be done by the end of March. His crew came to start the project, and then vanished -- doing maybe (maybe!) $650 worth of work out of the $5000 deposit. Then nothing. No show, Three weeks of mostly silence followed, a couple of phone calls with lame excuses (including being scared of the coronavirus). A couple times he said they'd be there the next day -- nope. One of his men told us later that owner Curtis Saffian told him we told him to not come back for three weeks! Total, complete lie. One of so many lies. Finally, they came back because Curtis Saffian thought he might be able to get more money out of us for a different project. They "finished" on April 30, and the "finished" project is a disaster. The whole point of the shed roof is to keep rain off the house, but Saffian's project literally directs water more toward the vulnerable walls than before. The back of the house is soaked, water pouring all over the deck through his "roof". Thank goodness we didn't let him work on he real roof! The house would be an indoor swimming pool. Curtis Saffian said he stands behind his work but he ducked several clear days since then to come back to fix it. Just didn't show despite promises to do so. Because he's already been paid, of course. Still says right now he'll come fix it, but the "work" is so obviously subpar, we don't have any faith he can actually fix it. Plus, we've dealt with so many ethical issues, we don't want him on our property anymore. Our poor house can't wait forever for him to a) show up when he says he will and b) figure out the mystery of a non-leaking roof. What's worse is, we had agreed on cedar for this project. We're on a budget but need this roof to last. Curtis Saffian referenced cedar throughout and stated repeatedly we wouldn't need to treat it because it was cedar. He actually stated just last week we had cedar framing in two text messages when specifically asked. He most definitely overcharged us for lumber to be able to afford cedar! But it's untreated pine, which costs about 1/3 that of cedar. He pocketed the difference. When I say overcharge, I don't mean a little bit. Instead of $1.25 per board foot for 4x6" pine beams, he charged more than $10 per board foot. We will not only have to pay a licensed contractor thousands of dollars to fix the roof, we will have to pay hundreds of dollars and dozens of hours to now seal it so the whole thing doesn't just rot and be infested with carpenter bees. No surprise -- Curtis Saffian will keep coming to you for more money if you hire him, despite taking an abnormally large deposit. On April 20, he demanded $1250 for our metal roof, said repeatedly he couldn't obtain the materials without that money. (This is not how reputable contractors operate!) I told him I'd call the vendor and pay for it myself. And sure enough, when I did, it was only $828. This was RIGHT after he'd said he needed $1250 for it. Again, not an isolated incident. Curtis Saffian's "materials" cost was literally $2200 more than what he spent. And yes, labor was a completely different line item, so he was not just boosting his materials costs to cover labor. He charged for that separately. Curtis Saffian overcharges in the extreme, does shoddy work, and you're lucky if you get him to finish at all, if you read all these and other reviews. If you think that my experience, and the experiences of the other three people here, are aberrations, below is a link to a blog on the Better Business Bureau site. I am currently in discussions with another "client" who is ashamed that he continued to give Saffian money for a shoddy, unfinished project. Beware -- he is a great talker, and he will be careful not to use his last name, which is why I keep repeating it, to save someone lucky enough to Google him earlier than I did. http://www.bbb.org/raleigh-durham/business-reviews/building-restoration-companies/saffian-restoration-services-in-clayton-nc-90200186/complaints#sthash.j6UPrWty.dpuf Porch! You should listen to these reviewers! Add a search function so people can look these contractors up. Kick off the people who are proven to not represent your company well. It seems like you have a ton of five-star contractors on here -- you don't need to lower yourself for the should-be-zero-star folks, even if they're paying you fees.

We are having same experience as the previous reviewer. We were given a timeline of 2-3 weeks over a month ago. Curtis took my parents doors and he has yet to come back and finish the rest of the project he contracted with us. He is not returning our texts or calls in a timely manner if at all. We have paid him 2/3 of the money for our project ($6600.00) and he has not completed half of the work. I guess the next step.is to file.a complaint with Porch so that they will know Curtis is not a good representative for their company

This has been an ongoing trauma for my parents. Curtis says he will come the next day and doesn't show up for a couple of weeks. It has been weeks at a time. He doesn't return phone calls or text. They have had their kitchen destroyed for 52 days now. This was supposed to be a 2 - 3 week job. He has my mom and dad's cabinet doors or we would just find someone else.
