One day, our owner and founder, Brian Peed, was told by an old flooring guy that, "You can have high quality products, great service, or low prices, but you can't have all three at the same time." You could say that the mission of Floor Boys is to prove him WRONG. The story of Floor Boys begins with the original Floor Boy, Brian Peed. With almost two decades of flooring experience, Brian started by selling all types of products for some of the largest flooring retailers. He founded Floor Boys, LLC in 2006. He and his brother-in-law, Bart Taylor (who has recently rejoined us as our Installation Manager) decided to reinvent and reintroduce service to the flooring industry as installers of hardwood and tile to discriminating customers. Originally, Floor Boys was an installation company only. After five and a half years or so, Brian decided to expand to a full flooring retail, service, and installation company. With the support of his wonderful wife and daughters, Brian has quickly grown Floor Boys into one of the highest quality flooring retail companies in the Midlands. It was about a year after that that Dean Hutto, of Palmetto Carpets, joined Floor Boys, LLC's team. Palmetto Carpets was a 3rd-generation flooring company that had been around in Columbia since 1952. Dean and Brian worked together several times, and Dean was impressed by Brian's work ethic and their shared core values. So when Brian opened up the first Floor Boys showroom and office in Lexington, Dean decided to join forces with us as our General Manager, bringing with him the generations of flooring and customer experience from Palmetto Carpets. The result is a flooring company defined by one thing - our integrity. At Floor Boys, we don't believe in shortcuts, only hard work. But even more important to us is our families, faith, and community. That's why we are so determined to bring the highest quality customer service possible - because our neighbors in Lexington do mean so much to us. We have also learned over the years that the key to success is giving customers the information and attention they deserve. Now, years later, Floor Boys continues to grow and stays involved in our Lexington community. In fact, we've grown so much that, in 2013, we opened a newer, larger showroom to house even more samples for you to peruse. The Peed family has grown as well, with Ashton, Olivia, Gabby, and Anna Grace joining Megan to complete the Floor Girls. But even as we grow, some things still stay the same, like our determination to work hard, serve our neighbors like no big-box retail store will, and provide high-quality installations that will last for years to come.
