I've had a few homes built in the past but never had an experience like I did with Excel Builders. The representation of the company (Ted Blake and Courtney) are the poster kids for unprofessionalism, lack of concern and just don't care about the customer. They will not meet deadlines, they will NOT return a call nor a text message until they feel like it regardless of the situation. Their lack of communication made the build much more stressful than it should have been. Once you have closed on your new home, they will not come back to fix anything for months regardless of how many times you call or text. They will ignore your calls and text and not respond. My dining room would leak every time it rained and it took them three months to send someone out to fix the leaks. I've never written a post about any business but I really felt the need to warn people so they can not make the same mistake as we did.

Terrible communication, follow through and just an all around lack of organization. Built a house with them and move in back in April of 2017. It has almost been a year since and our original list of items to be completed are still NOT done. There have been months worth of gaps where I would get zero response from ANYONE at the company. I had to pester for the last 3 months to find out that the original person(the son of the owner), who was the warranty guy, is no longer working there. And there is a new person to deal with. I was NEVER informed of this change and the warranty person swap has apparently been in place since December of last year. This is probably a good change for the company, because the previous warranty office, would come to fix one thing, but mess up something else. 12 years in construction?! Highly unlikely. Aside from the little punchout list things, there has been a major issue looming that NO ONE wants to take responsibility for. I have two windows where the fascia is cracked so bad that rain can and is getting in. Even after they put the first bandaid on it of some epoxy(which looks terrible). I wanted the windows replaced, which neither Haynes or Excel wants to deal with. They threw an excuse out that it could cause an issue with structural integrity... If that were the case, how do windows ever get replaced in a home? Structurally, Excel builds a great house, but finishing touches and communication is lacking. Would only recommend using them if you like headaches and extra stress. Especially when it comes to coordinating meeting and many false promises.
