We’ve used this company’s lawn services for a while now and today was the last straw. There’s been problems in the past with their workers not following through with direct information that’s not hard to understand and the actual employers have proven to be difficult to work with and can get very belligerent. My mom has flower gardens that she tends to every year, she’s very proud of them and tends to be very protective of them. In the past, we’ve had to complain about some of the guys using a weed-eater through the beds. We were told the problem would be handled. There have also been times where the yard was not cut correctly or even nearly half-decent. It was uneven everywhere and looked terrible. Today, my mother went out back to take the dogs out and noticed that they had used a weed-eater yet again on her flower beds. They had completely destroyed the two new azalea bushes she had just planted and the day lilies were completely wrecked. She was furious and upset, so she called the owner of the company who proceeded to tell her that it wasn’t their fault because some of their workers would hear stuff and it would go in one ear and out the other. He also told her that it was impossible to keep a list of everyone who wanted to have their flower beds cut and who didn’t. He ended up getting very hateful and challenged her to fire him, which she did because we can find better companies to give our money to. My father was not happy about the way the owner had talked to her, so he called again and the wife picked up. She tried to play the sympathy card and claimed it had been a rough year for them, basically trying to paint herself and her husband as the true victims. Look, as someone who owns a company, you need to have more integrity and realize that you have to hold yourself accountable when you’ve messed up. If your workers aren’t following your orders, here’s an idea, get other workers. Don’t stick with the same ones who can’t do a job properly because in turn you end up losing customers. We promoted their business when they first started out, we got most of our neighbors to hire them and then they turn out to be total trash. Everyone is struggling in the economy right now, that does not give you an excuse to be lazy. In fact, it should make you more determined to work for the money you earn. Do better.

Steve and his crew have been maintaining our lawn for 2+ years and we have received nothing but professional, affordable service. Steve does a great job communicating with his customers if there is an interruption in service or schedule change due to weather. In addition to our weekly mowing service, we have had American Dream aerate and over-seed our lawn the last two years and the results were fantastic. This season, with the long dry spell, Steve noticed that the aeration did not do very well due to the tough soil so he made a second trip out to aerate at no cost. It has been my experience that American Dream will go out of their way to ensure that you are satisfied. The online invoicing/payment via paypal is also very convenient!

Do NOT hire this company under ANY circumstances!!! I have never in my life left a review like this, but the total lack of professionalism I experienced called for nothing less. American Dream Lawn & Home Care left a magnet in my mailbox with a lawn estimate. I put it on my fridge just in case we needed service in the future. My husband's birthday is this weekend and I thought it'd be nice to have someone else mow the lawn this week. My husband works two jobs and we have a child with special needs. He is an amazing dad and I was excited to surprise him. Called up the number from the fridge magnet, asked to schedule a one-time service. They explained that they did not offer one-time services and that I would need to commit to a minimum of four services. Though that hadn't been my original intent, I told them that that was fine. I received an invoice almost immediately for those four services, well in advance of the first scheduled session. I thought that it was strange that they were asking for money before they'd even cut a blade of grass, but figured whoever handled invoicing was just sending out batch invoices. I shrugged it off and figured I would pay the invoice in full after they left the first day, thus paying for one completed service and pre-paying for the three future services. I received a call this afternoon, the day they were scheduled to mow for the first time, asking why I hadn't paid the invoice. Confused, I said, "Well, I haven't had anything done." The receptionist, Jeanette, explained that they'd been "burned" by customers in the past, "didn't know me," and expected full payment for all four services in advance or she would have to cancel today's services. "I'm uncomfortable paying that much money when no work has been done," I said. "I can pay for one session in advance, and then pay for the other three tonight after you do your first job, but I'm not going to pay for four sessions before you've even set foot on my lawn." (Except, of course, to sneak around my property leaving advertising magnets.) She said, "I understand. We would feel pause, too. If you want to run a check out to my son Kyle when he gets there, that'll be fine." For clarification, I said, "Yes, I'll be happy to run out a $30 check for today's session. I'll pay the rest of the invoice tonight after the first service." She said that was fine, that they'd be there soon, and we hung up. Literally minutes later, I received a text from the company saying: "Sorry to bother you again but I talked to Steve and we appreciate you giving us a call about lawn service but we are going to pass with servicing your lawn." (This is a direct quote. I saved the text message.) I tried to call the company back, only to be sent to voicemail twice. A few minutes later, I saw that I missed a call from Steve. I called back and expressed my shock and surprise at the lack of professionalism his company had shown, telling him I've never in my life heard of a lawn care provider asking for pre-payment AT ALL, much less for four sessions in advance before even cutting my lawn once. I asked him if he was running a scam, then added, "Why did you even call me?" His response? "You're a liar. You're the one that called me. You sought us out." At this point, the entire situation was almost comical. I reiterated, "No sir. I called you back after you called me. Furthermore, you left a magnet in my mailbox. You came onto my property and solicited my business. I simply took you up on the estimate you left on my property. You sought out my business. You asked for $120 from me before I'd even met you or seen any work from you at all. I offered to pre-pay for the first session and then pre-pay for the other three sessions after the first session was completed. Your receptionist told me that it was fine to hand your guys a check. Then, out of the blue, I receive a text saying you are going to quote-unquote 'pass on servicing my lawn'? It's unprofessional. That's all I have to say." Then, I wished him a nice day and ended the conversation. I frankly am still totally perplexed by the entire situation. Like anyone else, I've dealt with shady businesses in the past. I usually just move on and avoid doing business with those people again. The lack of professionalism and duplicity I encountered with this company was so unlike any interaction I've ever had with any other business in my life that I had to write a review. Something that could've been extremely simple (accepting a check, cutting my grass) was, for reasons unknown, turned into an incredibly difficult and bizarre experience by American Dream Lawn & Home Care. I suggest they rename their company "American Nightmare." Avoid this company or run the risk of receiving a text message on the day of a scheduled service, explaining that they will "pass" on you, like their customers have won some sort of illustrious prize by offering their hard-earned money and business. Scammers ahoy!
