In August of 2011 the north east was hit by hurricane Irene. Northern New Jersey experienced major flooding. We were contacted, through the Custom Made web site, by a business owner who's office had experienced major damage due to flooding. Below are some pictures as to extent of the damage. The scope of the project involved duplicating the existing office furniture. The original work was quite involved and the owner was unsure as how to proceed. We scheduled an appointment and met to discuss what the options were and to see what might be able to be salvaged. The picture herein are the end result of that meeting. The bulk of the project is plain sliced Walnut veneer with a clear coat finish. One of the offices incorporates a Corian solid surface top which we were able to salvage. You will also see various custom lateral files, the drawers themselves constructed of Baltic birch plywood on full extension slides. Shelving units have a clear plain sliced Maple interior. Each office also has a custom made coat closet. The existing units were disassembled and taken back to our shop where we deconstructed them, remanufactured them and then reinstalled the new finished project.

This is a custom entertainment unit that is multifunctional. It's not just what you see but also what you don't. The unit houses a rack system with both audio and visual component equipment. The unit was hand finished in house then delivered and installed on site. The trim work around the coffered ceiling was also part of the project.

This trading desk was made for one of our corporate clients. It features movable, lockable drawer pedestals, an interal cable chase, monitor arm supports and a computer shelf tucked into a steel sub frame. The frame is clad with solid and Cherry veneer panels and tops with an ebonized finish.

R. J. Hoppe Inc. is happy to announce that it now has the capability to produce live edge furniture products. One of our suppliers has started stocking exotic plank products in it's warehouse. The slabs are to numerous to list on this web page and they range from domestic to imported exotic. From plain to highly figured. Having visited the warehouse personally I can tell you that some of these products not only have a visual quality but also have a pleasant aroma as well. As with wine these products have apple and cinnamon hints to them, some smell sweet and floral as well. These products are priced to us by the board foot and in most case an entire plank must be purchased even if a portion of the plank will not be used. A board foot is a unit of measure that is 1" thick x 12" wide x 12" long. A plank that is 2" thick x 30" wide x 96" long would be 40 bdft. Prices range by size species and figure. As this can become very expensive please only serious inquires.
