Alameda Garage and Rooftop Deck | Nov 2014 | This highly complex project, located on Alameda St. in Portland, had a long list of demands, which required thoughtful design and a determination on both the Owners part and ours to achieve. Essentially, it was a garage replacement, yet the Owners wanted to extend and improve their outdoor living space on this tight, urban lot. So, we designed the roof of the garage to be a commercial style roof deck, which is paved with concrete pavers for a very low maintenance, yet beautiful outdoor living space. The dining room, opens onto another deck, just a few steps above the garage roof deck, on which the Owners can enjoy a convenient, highly designed outdoor kitchen. The upper deck connects to the back yard, a narrow space, highly designed and crafted to maximize its beauty, durability and usefulness. The garage interior was to be a gym in function. Since a man door was also desired on the sloped lot, we designed and fabricated a folding stair, to maximize the openness and floor area of the space. Intense thought went into every detail to ensure that every component was near perfection and highly durable. The project was great success. It was an incredible challenge, but extremely rewarding. | $170k | Portland, OR
Alameda Rooftop Deck | Sep 2014 | This highly demanding and complicated project consisted of replacing a garage with a new one that has an outdoor living space above. We also designed and built a covered upper deck with ipe hardwood and a roof and vaulted bead board ceiling and a highly custom outdoor kitchen. We designed and built a prestained, clear cedar fence with powder coated and stainless steel metal detailing. | $165k | Portland, OR
Simple Bath Remodel | Jan 2013 | This is a simple bathroom remodel done earlier this year. It has classic details with a custom mirror frame, bead board and chair rail. The paint was key for this project. We utilized spray applied, oil based paint for the trim and wainscoting to achieve a smooth, durable finish that will last for decades. Even the most basic projects, simple and modest can have a strong sense of luxury and should always be practical. This bathroom for a family of four will get a lot of use over the years. | $10k | Portland, OR
West Hills Stair | Sep 2012 | This stair consists of two main parts. The lower portion is concrete and the upper portion is steel with bluestone treads. The upper portion is a quarter of a circle, helical stair with a graceful, gentle curve that seamlessly meets the deck above. The railings match perfectly and look like it was always there. The concrete lower steps and landing were designed to effectively extend the existing retaining wall, while also serving as part of the overall stair composition. By designing this stair in this way, we were able blend the stair with the landscaping and eliminate the unusable area usually found beneath stairs, which is also a difficult area to maintain. Instead, this design compliments the landscaping and the house and is incredibly durable. The bluestone treads were installed without fasteners and are held in place by two pins and gravity and cushioned by a thin sheet of ribbed rubber that allows for drainage. This stair is essentially designed like a ship since it is entirely exposed to the weather. It is designed to get wet and dry out year after year, season after season. | $38k | Portland, OR
Dunthorpe Bathroom | Jan 2012 | Now this has been a truly fantastic project. Under a tight schedule and chocked full of wonderful challenges, this bathroom remodel was executed flawlessly. Our talented team pushed hard to keep the project on schedule, while guaranteeing perfection on a project that was far from ordinary. Several custom details such as the vanity, chrome gliding mirrors and highly designed tile layout just to name a few, made this project extra challenging, and extra rewarding. Feast your eyes, and visit the blog for more detail on the project and the process. | $50k | Portland, OR
Morgan | Jan 2010 | The Morgan residence was inspired by a historic home in the Irvington neighborhood. This home has a number of details that add to its charm and drama, such as the "eyebrow" roof on the gable end sides with repeating dentils and the 20 foot wide front porch gable and custom cut rafter tails. This home is Earth Advantage Certified. | $10k | Portland, OR
Franklin Home | Jan 2013 | Here's the latest version of the Webster home. The builder bought a 42.5' x 50' lot, so we adjusted the design to work on it. This house received an Energy Performance Score from the Energy Trust of Oregon with J-Chavez Design Build providing the verification work. | Portland, OR
Oberlin Home | Jan 2012 | The Oberlin home is another quality home by Anamic Construction. This home is small in footprint, but lives large. In addition to the beautiful finishes, appliances and fixtures, it has also earned an Energy Performance Score (EPS), which can be thought of as a miles per gallon rating so a buyer can understand how the energy efficiency of this home compares to others. | Portland, OR
Rosa Parks | Jan 2010 | This design, originally conceived by Bonn designs, was retooled from its previous draft into a home that is strong in balance, highly functional within a classic form and timeless details. The house has recycled hardwood floors from a school gymnasium, roof tiles made of recycled concrete and large soaring volumes. The first and second floor ceilings are actually 10 feet high, although you would not expect it from the outside. | Portland, OR |
