Damascus Master Suite | After raising their five children, these empty-nesters were ready to say goodbye to their outdated 1990’s master suite complete with blue laminate countertops, wall-to-wall carpeting (even in the bathroom) and brass Hollywood lighting. The couple looked forward to regular visits from their children and grandchildren, and wanted to create a warm, inviting master suite that they all could enjoy together. We teamed with general contractor Stanley Renovation and Design for the remodeling and custom cabinetry. The master suite was reconfigured to include a built-in entertainment center, a more comprehensive and stately bathroom vanity, adding character to the space with millwork and doors, and a spacious and bright shower for two. This was a remodel design project without furnishings. | $9k | Damascus, OR
Parrett Mountain Lodge | Our client’s background gave us hints of what they wanted in their custom built home. He has roots in Oregon, and was raised in a timber frame lodge style home. She was born and raised in China, and her style reflected both her native culture and appreciation for Western traditional style. The couple recently moved back to the United States after living aboard in Shanghai. SLS Custom Homes broke ground on this 4000 square foot home nestled on 20 acres in the fall of 2011. Honoring the client’s tastes and preferences, our interior design infused a refined rustic lodge with hints of Asian style. We worked with the client covering every interior and exterior inch of the home. Our design included custom great room trusses and corbels, a grand arched stairway, space planning for a hidden bookcase in the den, a custom designed grand lodge fireplace, and custom tile mosaics and millwork throughout the home. This project was custom build design without furnishings. | $31k | Sherwood, OR
Mount Tabor Cottage | We were thrilled when this distinguished commercial architect contacted us to furnish his newly remodeled master suite. We remember specifically his request, “Make my wife happy.” Their home had been lovingly restored piece by piece, and the couple gravitated towards nature inspired colors and Craftsman lines. We started by selecting a hand-knotted Suzani rug from Nepal that brought in an inspiring color story for the master bedroom. Imaginative blues in the area rug encouraged the original fir hardwood floors to sing, and also offered comfort underfoot when getting in and out of bed. To give the room a cozy, cottage feel we selected a variety of textures and patterns in linens, raw silk and Egyptian and sateen cottons. We custom designed and fabricated bench seating, window cornices and pillows. We finished the space with meaningful artwork and accessories, giving the space a charming, livable grace. This project was furnishings only. | $18k | Portland, OR

North Plains Farmhouse - Great Room | Nov 2010 | This family of five live miles away from the city, in a gorgeous rural setting that allows them to enjoy the beauty of the Oregon outdoors. Their charming Craftsman influenced farmhouse was remodeled to take advantage of their pastoral views, bringing the outdoors inside. We continue to work with this growing family, room-by-room, to thoughtfully furnish and finish each space. The family room, also frequently called the great room, is the heart of many homes. Our gallery showcases this stylish space that feels colorful, yet refined, relaxing but fun. Our unexpected color palette was inspired by a custom designed crewel fabric exclusively made for the client. This fabric makes its cameo in the drapery panels and large throw pillows on the sofa. | $1 | North Plains, OR

Mountain Park Ensuite | Converting a basic bedroom into a master bath in this 1970’s ranch made a lot of sense for this family of two. Prior to the remodel, this crowded bathroom served as the home’s main bathroom for both homeowners and guests. The outdated surfaces and efficiencies needed updating, thanks to a mauve sink, a porcelain toilet in the same color, an outdated cramped fiberglass shower and pastel blue laminate countertops. We created a powder room and a master bathroom using the square footage of the existing space and the adjacent bedroom – creating privacy and separation. We collaborated with T.H.E. Remodel Group to define a space plan that opened up the existing hall bathroom and entered the neighboring bedroom. This space allowed us to double the size of the shower and added needed closet storage, two vanity sinks, custom cabinetry with storage and radiant heating. The client was fond of contemporary yet classic design, and we settled on classic Carrera marble for the countertops, with chrome accents. To give the bathroom a bit of contemporary punch we selected an unexpected Sombera yellow for the walls. To coordinate with the vanity, we chose for the master shower a gorgeous easy-care porcelain tile reminiscent of Carrera marble. This new generation tile is almost impossible to detect porcelain versus natural stone, but allows the homeowners to enjoy zero maintenance and easy clean up. In 2012, this project won the Remodeling Excellence Awards for Best Master Suite under 100K. This project was remodel design only. | $5k | Portland, OR
Portland Sailor's Tribute | Roger and Margret have been married for over 50 years. Their love and affection for one another and their life stories spoke wonders to us. We worked with the couple to cosmetically remodel and furnish their three bathrooms, their master bedroom, and their den where they relaxed, unwinded, and watched television. Margret’s family had moved in 1954 to the United States from Germany. She met Roger in high school on a double date, though they were not dating one another. A few years later they met again at a dance and as Margret says, “The rest is history.” During the Cuban War crisis Roger served aboard the U.S.S. Shangri La as a sailor. Roger took pride in his time at sea and collected framed pieces of ships and nautical memorabilia. Tucked away in a closet, our team also found a treasured service photo of Roger, hand colored in a 4×6 frame. We dusted off the frame, knowing it would display beautifully in their new den. Using the couples compiled memories and their pieces as inspiration, we created a palette of grayed and weathered blues, stripes, metals and warm woods that honored this special time in their life. This project was furnishings and cosmetic remodel. | $45k | Portland, OR |
