This company builds beautiful houses but unfortunately does not stand behind their product. I can live with some workmanship problems, but not having the brains to admit a problem and have it fixed shows their lack of professionalism. I bought a Scott Donogh house in 2015 and had many quality problems. 6 months in, I ask for someone to come and check things out and an incompetent project manager (Chad W) says I shouldn't ask for anything because I didn't purchase warranty. After some back and forth they involved a warranty company which ended up doing nothing, apart from some minor fixes. Two years later I was still trying to convince them to come and fix things. I think the only reason they did anything was because my realtor was in the emails. Popup drywall nails...hmm probably more than 100. Yes, I understand some will popup. My previous new house 10yrs later: 0. Kitchen counter separating from the wall and requiring resealing at the edges...2 or 3 times already, in 3 yrs...house still settling. Previous house, 1 time, 10 years later. Some metal brackets (I forget the actual name) curving out and making siding bulge out . One of their people admitted they were not put in correctly. Thankfully they fixed this. They had a patio door 1/2 inch taller than the frame. It was curved, getting water in and was hard to use. Thankfully they fixed it, after me having to deal with the window/door company for a long time, who could frankly do nothing. The floor was creaking and squeaking like crazy. They brought an incompetent person (the foreman and believe their quality person) who all he did was add some shims in the subfloor areas causing the noise. Problem reappeared a few months later. He came back, more shims. Appeared again, came back, more shims. Now the floor is uneven. My mistake. I shouldn't have let him touch it again after first time. I went down there myself and removed a few I could find, but was impossible to undo the damage done. One of the air ducts pushes no air out, maybe not connected, or blocked. Seeing their incompetence and because it was in the laundry room I let that go. I wanted them to fix the bigger issues and had problems managing a list with more than 1 items. HVAC company did come and fix some other issue with air flow. Some rooms had very low air flow. Thankfully fixed, but revealed a bad design in the crawlspace vent layout that a person admitted to. Then, the living room started leaking. Their design/workmanship of scupper/gutter is at fault. They say it's maintenance issue (leaves dared to block the gutter) and they put lots of caulking to fix it. Fast forward to 2018. Leak appears again. Moldy walls. Was obviously never really fixed and was not a permanent fix anyway. I sent mail to the big guys, Paul Monsef and Scott Donogh. I asked who did the roof? I'll pay someone to come and fix it. No response. I can't even call the roof and gutter company that did the house which would make my life easier, since it's impossible to find people to fix these things. Moral lesson? Go with an established builder.
