Eddie Collier responded to a search by Sherry Duncan on Porch.com. My mother, Carolyn Aaron, contracted him to build and stain handrails and to cover concrete steps with hardwood. Since my mother’s house is old, it took a lot longer than expected and much more effort. During the first couple of weeks, Mr. Collier’s performance was outstanding. He was very meticulous and prompt, and when he was going to be late, he communicated that to my mother. At the end of the project, Mr. Collier asked that he be paid for the additional monies owed so he could take his kids on a vacation. He also mentioned that he had another project/job and asked if he could work on that project, with the promise to return to finish the rails. Mr. Collier was several hours late when he returned for the first scheduled date to complete the remaining items, and left without any notice. I called him to inquire as to when we could expect him to return to finish the rails and he said, April 6, 2016 at 9:00 am – Mr. Collier was a “no-show” and he did not call. Several hours later, I called to see when he was going to finish the rails and he said, “I am out of town getting estimates for another project. I have several jobs going on right now and I don’t know when I will get the chance to complete the project, maybe Monday or Tuesday.” Since I needed him to give me a commitment, I asked him again, “which date.” Mr. Collier then responded by cursing and yelling and telling me that he had a lot of work and did not know when he could finish my mother’s rails. He then hung up the phone without giving me the opportunity to respond. I called him back several times and he kept hanging up the phone. My friend, Sherry Duncan spoke with Mr. Collier on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 and he said he would finish the work for my mother, no later than Tuesday, April 12, 2016. He said he would confirm the actual time on Sunday. It is my understanding that Mr. Collier made comments about “providing services for free” – that was not our expectation! I/we acknowledge that he provided additional services, in which I was going to compensate him for once he completed the services my mother contracted him to do. In lieu of his most recent display of unreliability and unprofessionalism - I CAN’T! I hope someone will discuss my comments with Mr. Collier so that he doesn’t make this/these mistakes with future customers! Sherie
