The KohlMark Group consists of two companies, KohlMark Architects and KohlMark Builders. Kohlmark Architects is an award winning architecture firm while KohlMark Builders is a Class A general contractor. "We are architects and builders who share in our clients' passion for well-crafted architecture as a way to enhance quality of life," explains Mark Kohler. As the President of both firms, he works along with Vice Presidents Bill Fletcher and Tom Flach to continue the work of his father, Karl E. Kohler, who began the company in 1963. Originally founded as Kohler Associates Architects and Kohler Homes, the companies changed their names to KohlMark in 2010 to more accurately represent their image. The KohlMark name has become synonymous with its seamless design-build approach. A commitment to quality, integrity, and client service ensures clients become "clients for life." KohlMark Architects designs houses across a range of styles and locations. "We love the opportunity to design for unique sites from Skyline Drive with views of the mountains, to waterfront homes along the Potomac River, Chesapeake Bay, and Delaware beaches," says Flach. "We try to work within the context of the existing neighborhoods," adds Kohler. From Craftsman-style bungalows to minimalist contemporary houses, the aesthetics may change but the commitment to appropriate detailing remains consistent. As designs are developed, the construction phase of a project begins. KohlMark Builders builds most projects designed by KohlMark Architects. "We believe that well-crafted architecture is achieved through the collaborative efforts of a team, including the client, the architect, and the builder," explains Kohler. Accurate construction pricing is generated from day one, while a single point of contact keeps communication open. Clients gain peace of mind knowing their designs will be executed to perfection. Mark Kohler holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech and has practiced since 1984. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Metro DC Chapter of the NARI and co-chaired its CotY Awards Committee. Fletcher holds the same degree from Virginia Tech and has practiced for thirty years. Tom Flach earned undergraduate degrees in economics and Psychology from Vanderbilt University before obtaining a Master of Architecture from Virginia Tech.
