I hired Chris to snowplow my driveway, and paid for 1/2 season in advance. The first snowfall, I had to shovel by hand...he said he plows my neighborhood at 4:00 am so snow had accumulated again. He didn't tell me he came at 4:00 am before I paid, or I'd never hired him. So, I said we can end the contract...but, my check has cleared. He ignores my voicemails, and I went to his house to ask about refunding the money he owes me since we agreed to end the contract. No answer. After avoiding me for three days, I suspect he plans to keep my money and not plow (4:00 am plows are useless for my situation). But, if he contacts me and arranges to refund my money since the contract is broken, I would highly recommend Chris. If not, stay away, for obvious reasons.
